Description: Ntounias restaurant is a traditional Cretan restaurant with authentic tastes cooked in the wood oven, even the bread is hand made and cooked in the restaurant. Most ingredients are taken from the family farm and many are harvested from the neighboring area. Stelios is a unique person with love for life and cooking, and this spirit you can see, smell and taste in his food! When you visit Ntounias, take your time as we will produce to you to taste our plates, which are different every day. The restaurant is located at Drakona village, east of Therisso village at Keramia, Chania prefecture in west Crete.

Stunning if a little scary drive up the mountains to reach this wonderful bit of paradise. One of the best tavernas we have been to in Crete. We had a wonderful experience. The taverna is run by a lovely friendly couple who are passionate about creating wonderful food from their own home grown ingredients. The food is superb. Traditional Cretan food cooked on wood burners in a way that has been done for centuries. They do everything themselves from baking bread in the wood ovens to hand made and cut pasta. The slow cooked meats are delicious as are the vegetarian dishes. Its ever such good value too. If you want to experience the real Crete take a drive up to this lovely place.,

This tavern is not close to hotels but it worth it.
Here you could feel like a guest at Greek family home.
Owners will invite you to the kitchen and show all the dished they have for today. Homemade wine is very good. You could ask for a small portion to taste all they have.
Everything is simple, natural, tasty and inexpensive.
We were even allowed to gather some fruits in a garden.
Owners speak basic English and owner’s wife speaks Russian.
If you would like to taste simple traditional Greek food (which we found very tasty) it’s proper place to visit.

Fantastic in every way!

The food tastes absolutely delicious. I've eaten here twice now and I would eat here again any time. Lots of really yummy vegetarian food with their homegrown vegetables and organic olive oil. They cook it in special ways for hours, the taste is fabulous.

Beautiful mountain top location with wooden tables and chairs overlooking the beautiful green olive groves and trees of old Cretan scenery.

The family hosts are so nice and friendly. They make everything of course themselves in their kitchen, which is full of traditional ceramic cooking pots and utensils. They have their own cows for dairy and grow their own vegetables...

Go here and enjoy this beautiful restaurant, if you're like me you will not want to leave!

If you like this and are in the area of Chania, you must also eat in To Stachi (look it up on tripadvisor)!
