When you visit Ntounias, take your time as we will produce to you to taste our plates, which are different every day. “What an experience!”

After a great drive through the mountains we reached Dounias this afternoon and were treated like friends. We had a look in the kitchen and the winery. We had to taste his homemade wine and cheese. Lovely. After that we had a great lunch. We loved the lamb the most but everything is so fresh and tasteful. The scenery is fantastic as well. We will be back for sure!

“A beautiful experience”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

The meal is like a performance. What we love about this place is the magic of the service that is very human, it is the ingredients that are home grown by the same people and their generosity to share this with us and other visitors. Absolutely recommended to everyone that would like to enjoy a nice peaceful moment with good care. Thank you for your excellent hospitality and food! We will never forget this experience and we only wish that more people can enjoy and as well and treat food the way you do.. growing, cooking with love and have such an experience eating..

“Lovely”

Very authentic food, relaxed atmosphere after a short drive through the mountains. Humble but beautiful setting, excellent food. There's no menu, but you taste a variety of local traditional dishes. Very child friendly! Would definitely recommend, any visitors to Crete should make the drive from Chania.

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

We had a fantastic day at Dounias. We were lucky enough to enjoy both lunch, dinner and breakfast in this paradise. Thanks Stejo for sharing your time and skills in the kitchen/garden with us. Don't miss the opportunity to stay over when you visit, the room they rent out to a most reasonable price is a great place to stay. Hope to come back soon!

“A unique dining experience”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

After one of the most spectacular drives of my life, up through the Therisso Gorge, you find this mountain restaurant on a sharp bend in the road. After parking up we were greeted by the chef / owner who asked us if we would like to see what he was cooking in his kitchen. We responded with "No, it's fine, we will have whatever you are doing today thank you", he seemed delighted at our response and proceeded to show us to our table in the field across the road. The dining area has an eclectic mix of old tables and chairs covered by a large home made awning. We asked for 2 ouzo and some rose' wine and took in the stunning views across the mountains while we waited to see what food was going to arrive at our table. I am not going to spoil your surprise albeit to say that everything we had was excellent, truly rustic Crete, an absolute delight and well worth the drive. This is by no means 'fine dining' but a meal we will always remember.
