Description: Ntounias restaurant is a traditional Cretan restaurant with authentic tastes cooked in the wood oven, even the bread is hand made and cooked in the restaurant. Most ingredients are taken from the family farm and many are harvested from the neighboring area. Stelios is a unique person with love for life and cooking, and this spirit you can see, smell and taste in his food! When you visit Ntounias, take your time as we will produce to you to taste our plates, which are different every day. The restaurant is located at Drakona village, east of Therisso village at Keramia, Chania prefecture in west Crete.

As the reviews say, real cooking with fresh, seasonal produce (no tomatoes in any of our dishes as they are not in season). Invited into the kitchen before eating, ate fantastic food (baby lamb, fava, gigantes, Horta, dense homemade bread, a glass of rough red wine) then saw the home growing vegetables and livestock. A humbling experience; not just lunch, but full on real Crete - I've done restaurants on 5 continents - this was as memorable and enjoyable as any, Michelin starred ones included. Very, very highly recommended if it's taken for what it is: the genuine article.

When you arrive you are greeted like a long lost friend and the informal nature of the business is obvious. You can leave the choice of food to Stelios or take a look in the small traditional kitchen and pick whatever is to your taste. I have done both and all the food that arrives is truly excellent and is Cretan food at its best, how it used to be, nutritious and locally produced on their own land, even the weekend waiters work on the farm during the week.
An experience not to be missed!

The most traditional-bio restaurant in chania area. The food was excellent, hospitality lovable and the scenery is breathtaking. It is a MUST visit if anyone is in Crete. Avoid sundays if you can as it is the busiest day of the week! We thank Stelio and his family for keeping the cretan spirit alive.
