Description: Ntounias restaurant is a traditional Cretan restaurant with authentic tastes cooked in the wood oven, even the bread is hand made and cooked in the restaurant. Most ingredients are taken from the family farm and many are harvested from the neighboring area. Stelios is a unique person with love for life and cooking, and this spirit you can see, smell and taste in his food! When you visit Ntounias, take your time as we will produce to you to taste our plates, which are different every day. The restaurant is located at Drakona village, east of Therisso village at Keramia, Chania prefecture in west Crete.

I don't have more to add to what has been already been said. This is truly a must do in Chania. Stelios and his family have a true gift of taking fresh and local food to a different level. Also, he will keep you entertained with his jokes and high energy. You will leave with bellies stuffed and lots of memories that will stay with you long after you leave Crete!

Our hotel, Alcanea Hotel in Chania Town (which was stupendously awesome as well) recommended this place.
When u stare at the map,u find it far off the town centre n u really wonder if the food from so far off can be good..
Without reading any of the reviews below (we didn't know it was on TA) ,we took a leap of faith and decided to hit the roads anyway. It was the best decision we made in our stay at Chania. The drive was picturesque n we stopped multiple times for photos. We also saw mountain goats in the natural environment climbing around. The drive by itself alone was worth it.

Then,u meet Stelios n his restaurant. A bashful, brilliant cook, he first showed us his kitchen, then his organic farm. We passed a berry bush in his farm n Stelios plucked some for us. It was a nice gesture. He then plucked some plants from his farm n later made tea for us from it.
His food was great and we wiped clean all his dishes. We finally found a place where my wife and I felt truly delighted with the food! It was a great price too! 23 euros.

We could go on and on but really, all the reviews earlier captured the experience u will get perfectly. We are just another testimony that Stelios is truly a 5 star act.

I am a student of gastronomy in Italy and came to Crete to study a traditional foods in the region. I was absolutely charmed by the Stelios and his wife, the proprietors of this restaurant and farm. Everything we ate was thoughtfully raised on the property and the food is cooked over a fire in clay pots. Stelios was more than happy to lead us on a tour of his farm to visit his cows, bees and vegetables. We dined outside on a beautiful covered terrace looking over the valley. This restaurant is well worth the drive (which is beautiful on its own) and the food is well worth the wait. Everything was perfectly cooked.

This is a great place, the most wonderful food. Slightly out the way but if you head up the hills via Therriso from Chania it is situated in Drakona. We went for a gorge walk north of drakona which was fntastic, then headed off to Dounias for dinner just before sunset. It was pure heaven, the food was just perfection, we chose a bit of everything to eat, had some lovely wine and the price was unbelievable, so much so we left ten euros as a tip. A truly beautiful location, beautiful food and lovely people. Note we found another drakona in the far west of Chania (it is not this one!) Aim for the Drakona near Therriso. If you go for sunset the driven back down to Therisso is just sublime..... highly recommend this as a perfect day out!! Thank you!!
