“Everyone was so nice!”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

We were extremely frustrated getting to this lovely hotel! I booked it thinking it was in Sienna, when in fact, not only is it not in Sienna, but it's not even in Montaperti! However, the staff quickly changed my attitude! They were unbelievably fantastic!! Unfortunately, my husband was ill, so I strolled the grounds by myself...what fantastic amenities! Loved the views and the indoor/outdoor pool and the sauna/steam rooms. The bar was adorable too, not to mention the bartender! I didn't want to eat in the restaurant since I wasn't interested in an upscale dinner. I was directed to a lovely stroll down the road to the local cafe/bar. I ended up having 3 meals there! I walked home the first evening with a wonderful couple that I met who were also staying at the hotel. I tried cancelling our next reservation so that I could stay longer, but that didn't work out. The room was great! Loved the bathroom....very cool! Grateful for the wi-fi! The breakfast was fantastic!! The only problem was the inconvenience of driving, but that would have been taken care of if I had a sense of direction! I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Room Tip: A great find! Just make sure you know where you are going and how to get there!

- MONTAPERTI HOTEL:NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER -

Dear Rise,

thank you so very much for this lovely . . . TALE: that’s what your words sound like, not a simply review, but a funny, passionate story of what Montaperti Hotel can be for all that people who is open minded enough to change its attitude!

We immediately understood that a cyclone made of energy, sympathy and fervency was about to invest all of us as soon as you entered Montaperti, and so you did!

I’m glad you didn’t want to stop at the first impression and most of all I’m glad you gave us the chance to show you all our potentiality: you have had a pleasant stay and we are proud about that!

I guess there is nothing more to add: “ I TRIED CANCELLING OUR NEXT RESERVATION SO THAT I COULD STAY LONGER “ is really flattering and a huge satisfaction to all of us, and last but not least it says a lot about our amenities and ambience!

The colleague of the front desk Silvia and the bartender Samir want to thank you and your husband as well!

We all look forward to welcoming you back in Italy next year!

Sincerely,
Nico

We chose the Montaperti Hotel because it was quite close to Siena, allowing us to use the shuttle bus from the Tufi parking lot. This proved to be a very convenient way to get into the city. The hotel was quite hard to find, as its name would suggest it was in, or close to, the little town of Montaperti, but it is in fact several miles from there. Our room was comfortable, and equipped with TV, free wifi, a good bathroom, minibar and safe. The staff on reception were very helpful and friendly, if a little light on understanding English. There are gym and sauna facilities, but we didn't get time to use them.
The hotel is not really within easy walking distance of any shops or restaurants, so we relied on the hotel restaurant for evening meals. On our first evening we found the restaurant service was, at best, adequate, but this greatly improved on our other two nights, and the food was always very good. We were especially impressed by the king prawn kebabs. Breakfast was excellent. Overall if you want to be close to, but not in, Siena, then this hotel would be a good choice

- MONTAPERTI HOTEL: FEW KMS FROM SIENA, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GORGEOUS TUSCANY COUNTRYSIDE -

Dear Jotheringman5,

thank you so much for this nice review! It’s very helpful for many others Tripadvisor’s Readers who are choosing Montaperti Hotel for their stays in Siena!

And thanks again for pointing out some of our most important assets as our wonderful position, few kms from Siena downtown but right in the middle of some great lands as the Chianti, the Crete and the Val d’Orcia, the quality of the breakfast and of the restaurant, the relax area, and last but not least the staff on reception, whose aim is to grant all our Guests a funny, pleasant stay!

If you’re coming back to Italy again, it will be a great pleasure to me having the chance to show you some places within easy walking distance, as the restaurant “La Casetta”, the bar “Lilla”, the newsstand and the grocery store, less than 400 meters from us.
Or the shops located in the village of Arbia, just one km from Montaperti Hotel, as the “Pizzeria Piccolo Mondo”, the bar, the post office, the bank, the pharmacy and a very nice shop, the “Consorzio Agrario”, that sells typical tuscany products as wine, oil and fresh meat.

We all look forward to welcoming you back here: contact me personally, let me know when, and I’ll do my best to create a special “Montaperti Experience” just for you!

Kind regards,
Nico

- MONTAPERTI HOTEL: A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW –

Dear Ofer,

thank you so much! Not only for your nice words, but for the nice pics you took at Montaperti Hotel: we like them so much to post on our official facebook page!

We are used to see pictures taken by our rooftop terraces, one that looks toward the wonderful Crete Senesi, the other one that points to the Chianti landscape and the astonishing skyline of Siena, so your photos definitely show all Tripadvisor’s Readers a different point of view about Montaperti, and we love it!

We love it because Montaperti Hotel is a genuine, authentic place, simple and colorful, for all that People who really wants to live and to experience our great Land, its colours and its ambience!

People that chooses Montaperti Hotel are interested in the natural luxury offered by a region unique in the whole World: the vineyards and the castles of the Chianti (10 minutes driving), the history and the traditions of the old city of Siena (12 km), the hills of the Crete (just outside the hotel), and much much more that we’ll be glad to help everybody to discover once arrived here!

Just like you did, dear Ofer: I look forward to welcoming you back here again next year!

Thank you so much,
Nico

Don't judge the hotel by the outside (particularly if you arrive from the west).

I initially thought I made have made a terrible mistake booking this hotel ahead for 4 nights, however once we entered the lobby and interacted with the wonderful front desk staff (at 12:30am) we were put at ease.

Nico and Antonio at the front were super friendly and helpful in every way. Restaurant reservations in the area, maps, you name it, they are happy to help.

The room was also very clean and modern, (although they could have used a thicker blanket -or more spare blankets - for the bed).

There is also a nice fitness center and indoor pool and sauna, and the included breakfast is quite good (and cappuccinos/espressos are available).

The only negatives, we felt, were that there were some unsightly stains on the carpet near the window and the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor.

We had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel one night and were pleasantly surprised. Delicious menu, very reasonable price, and best of all the service. Ernest, our server, was awesome, spoke great english and was genuinely happy to have us. We saw him most mornings as well (he worked the breakfast shift 3 of the 4 days we were there) and he was great about recommending restaurants and things to do in the area.

This property has staff and service down!

One tip: request a room with a view. The huge windows that open up make all the difference when the view is spectacular. Pay the extra Euros!

Also, be aware that this hotel is not in Siena, it is about 15 minutes outside Siena. Driving in Italy can be very very challenging and confusing, BUT we heard taking the bus to town was very easy and inexpensive. Stubbornly we drove into town (and to other places in Tuscany) because we had a rental car and got lost almost every time. Even driving back to the hotel the 3rd and 4th time was still confusing!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a countryside view and open the windows and blinds each morning when you wake up...

Very nice and clean hotel located near Siena, but distant enough to avoid the crowd, traffic and the high cost. The room was very clean, roomy and modern. It was a suite-style, so it had a small kitchenette and a dining table. The room did have have a clorox-like of smell, but we're assuming that it was the chemical they cleaned the room with. There are several parking spaces directly in front of the rooms, which was convenient, and there are more just across the street. There is also a grocery market fairly close by. The front desk staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast, included at the hotel, was a typical European breakfast and it was very good. The breakfast staff was very helpful and attentive, which we greatly appreciated. They also have a very nice indoor swimming pool, but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use it due to our schedule. Overall, we had a great experience at the Montaperti Hotel, and we'd definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: We only saw our room, so we're not sure about the other rooms. Ours was one of the rooms in the...

DID NOT TRY OUR SWIMMING POOL? A VERY GOOD REASON TO COME BACK ONCE AGAIN!!!

Dear Dan,

thank you so much from the whole Crew for the great review concerning your stay at Montaperti Hotel!
We are so very glad about the appreciation and the genuine, positive feeling we can read in your words: your satisfaction pays us back for the efforts and the commitment we assume each and every single day in our job!

Most of all I’m happy you noticed more than once how careful we are about the “cleaning factor”: our housekeeper, Mrs. Fiorella, and all the ladies of her team, really work hard to grant all our Guests a pleasant stay, which certainly begins with a nice, comfortable, clean room!

If you didn’t have the chance to bathe in our swimming pool, you definitely must come back once again: in the next months we’re going to open it, so to create a beautiful, spacious area, made up by the pool, the rooftop terrace overviewing a gorgeous landscape and last but not least the garden, where you can lie down to relax, enjoying the sun and the colors of our beautiful land!

Looking forward to welcoming you back here, with a very big smile!
Kind regards,

Nico

A hotel that sits in the winedistrict of Siena and has beautiful views from the balcony's and the outdoor spaces.
Great food in the restaurant and a nice breakfast as well as good service from everyone in the staff that helped you with everything and that with a smile on their faces.
You feel over all very velcome.
The room we had was small but it had what you need, in this area you spend more time out from the hotel than in it.

Room Tip: We had a room without balcony and if you can choose then choose the rooms towards the "backside...
