We have just returned from a weekend at the Poindexter House Bed & Breakfast in Ellijay, Georgia. It's a B&B in a restored Victorian home in the downtown area. It was really the best of both worlds - right at the foothills of the North Georgia mountains with the personal service that a B&B offers. We loved it! It was so comfortable that we were right at home with the innkeeper but found it to be a very private stay as well.
We were lucky enough to stay in the honeymoon suite and could not have been happier. There was a private sitting room, a beautiful canopy bed and an awesome private bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The coffee and homecooked breakfast in the mornings were perfect, as were the snacks available whenever we wanted a little nibble.
The grounds were relaxing as well. We spend quite a bit of time just rocking in the gazebo out back - listening to music and chatting about the mountains. Even played a tune or two on the piano in the front parlor - luckily our stay was much better than my playing!
Downtown Ellijay offers a quaint setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lots of shops, nice restaurants and just a few minutes from hiking trails, apple orchards and mountain streams. A nice little place.
Overall we would say this is one of the best B&B experiences we've had - and we do quite a few during the year. We felt like family when we left - and will definitely return during the holidays for an Appalachian Christmas! Thanks to Pam for a wonderful time!
