“Great meal, local products”
Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

Dinner began with tangy pickles on every table. For appetizers we enjoyed apple onion tart with pepper jelly (excellent) and fried green tomatoes in marinara sauce. Entrees were delicious. We had bacon cheeseburger, low country boil (with shrimp, sausage, melt in your mouth corn on the cob and boiled potato), sausage ravioli, ny strip steak, and smoked pork. All entrees come with 2 sides (apple slaw, potato salad, pasta salad,3 bean salad) and watermelon (apple pie ala mode is $3. Menu changes weekly. Chef Janie is a gracious hostess making you feel welcome in her homey restaurant.

“What a unique dining experience.”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Upon entering this cozy, two room restaurant, we were greeted warmly and told to help ourselves to freshly made lemonade or iced tea or water.
The chef had directed us to her menu board with the night's features. The choices were priced very fairly and Portion's were extremely generous. We started our meal with an Apple onion tart. Chef Janie saw I was having a difficult time deciding on what to order and said she was going to make me a sample plate. My dinner was priced at $10.00 and I had a three squash lasagna, smoked chicken that had been injected with beer, polenta, and an apple slaw. The plates were garnished with a very yellow marinated cauliflower. All the food comes from local farms. The other dinners dined on eggplant parmesan, smoked pork, and meatloaf.
A small moist chocolate cake topped with fresh cream and pureed strawberry was so delicious. You could tell that everything was made with love.
The chef who was running both the front and back of the restaurant due to being short staffed was so personable. One truly felt as if you were dining at the chef's home.
The restaurant is housed in the Tabor House. This is the oldest structure in Ellijay, G.A. I am not sure if their is air conditioning in the building. However, we had a very nice cross breeze throughout our dinner.
I really want to go back for their Sunday brunch. For $10.00 you can pick five items from her board. She prepares twelve items both sweet and savory. She said the eggs cooked to order are a real treat.
We will be back soon.

“Quaint”
Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

Always good food in a quaint historic atmosphere tucked away in the Tabor House, Ellijay's oldest building. A museum is housed upstairs and a gift shop on the main level.

“A great place to eat!”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Excellent food, a great setting in an old victorian style home. The chef seems to pay attention to detail. Not a big franchise, our favorite place to eat in Ellijay.
