You must know before going that the Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant so the experience is pehaps as important as the food-good thing!
Setting, a little dark but clean. The booths all have very high wall between them so a very private type atmosphere.
Service was polite and timely.
We ordered the 4 course meal which in retrospect is way more $$ than if you pick and choose from the menu.
We started with the classic cheese which comes with several types of breads, apple slices and some veggie pieces but mainly bread. It was quite good and a nice start.
Salad was pretty decent in freshness, taste and size, but I think this is more of a filler as when the main entres arrive you look for the food and can't find it.
We ordered several different entrees to be able to share and try as many differnt meats, veggies, fish as we could . We were very disappointed with the portion sizes and quite frankly, most of it didn't taste very good.
Lastly was a chocolate dessert fondue which was very tasty but again very small portions.
Bottom line: Was fine, Cheese and chocolate quite good. Main course very poor and the whole thing very expensive. Next time we'll do it ourselves at home!

I have been to Melting Pot in Duluth area for dinner.Good ambiance.when i looked at the menu the prices were pretty high.I remember ordering a combo(4 pieces of potatoes, broccoli s,4 pieces of shrimp raviolis ).I was so shocked the portion of food was very less for that price and secondly we had to start cooking in the pot(kept on the table hot) with skewers provided rather than spending time talking to friends. We could have done this cooking at home rather than spending 50$ for 2 just for place.I find this concept very stupid. Not at all worth for the price. We decided to go to this place based on good ratings. Now i don't even trust ratings.Later we had to grab something from taco bell to fill out stomach s...

I have not been to many Melting Pots, and this experience was everything that I hoped it would be. We were celebrating my Graduation (finally earned that Bachelor's Degree!) and the restaurant was very willing to accomodate our requests. We had a private nook booth for the two of us and we ordered the early bird dinner. Our cheese course was delicious and our server was very attentive at the beginning of the meal. Our meat course was good; we had the chicken, teriyaki sirloin, shrimp, salmon, and filet in the coq au vain cooking style. The meats were all fresh, but I would not order the salmon again. The teriyaki sauce they served on the side was really good, as was the green goddess and bleu cheese sauces. Our chocolate course was decedent and delicious. We both left very full, and very happy. This was a treat and we would probably come back again to celebrate something, but otherwise, it is not somewhere we would spend that much money. Even with the early bird, our meal was $85 (including two glasses of wine). I would have given them excellent ratings, but our server disappeared as she was given more tables and practically ignored us once she brought our dessert.

My husband and I come here a few times per year, but it is also our Christmas Eve tradition now. Why? You know you have a cozy table for about 2 hours and can actually relax and chat uninterrupted.

Yes, it is a bit expensive (our meal was about $140 including a bottle of wine) but it is a great experience every time.

Our waiter was great too.
