“Food was OK but our service / server was terrible”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

We live in the area and have been to the resturanty several times, food is normally good but our recent visit was terrible. Yes they were busy as they normally are but our server was not interested in the guests, looked like he would rather be somewhere but not there working. A food runner finally brought us some Ice Tea and bread. When we did see the server we asked for a tea refill he finaly came back with tea and then poured most of it on the floor. We never were asked for food refills or dessert. After waiting for a long time we never received a bill so we just went to the front and told the cashier there were two in our party so she could ring it up. No tip was left. Very unhappy with this visit may go back in the future not sure at this point. Very expensive for basic buffet food and poor service. We also did hear the hostess speak very rudely to an older gentleman asking her a question. Customer service needs to improve even on busy days. I work in the F&B business and we do not allow that type of service no mater how busy we are.

“Bring Your Appetite!”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

It had been a while since we're had been here, but we were not disappointed. Meals are still served family style and it was Southern food at its best. The fall view of the Georgia mountains was an added plus.

“Southern Family Style in the Mountains”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Southern Country cooking at its best! In the North Georgia Mountains, what a dining treat. you are served 3 meats and 8 or 10 vegetables, various breads and desert, all being delicious. Large, clean Dining Hall, with excellent views of surrounding mountains. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Can get crowded, especially in Fall leaf season, so plan wisely, week days are best.

“Country food at it's best”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

The Dillard House Restaurant serves family style. It reminds me of my grandmother...lots of bowls of good country food on the table...three kinds meats, different types of breads, salads, vegetables and desserts. The large dining room is very pleasant with terrific views of the surrounding hillsides. The cost is almost $25. per person, but well worth it.

“Not for a People on a Budget”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Over cooked ham, good fried chicken, and greasy pork chops were the meats available on the day we went to Dillard House. I ate here several years ago and thought the food excellent and was eager to try it again. I read varied reviews on this site and decided it was worth an hours drive through the North Georgia Mountains. It wasn't. Being served plenty of food does not translate into being served tasty food. The menu doesn't vary much from day to day. In addition to the three meats already listed the following items were good; scalloped potatoes, rolls, cheese biscuits, and corn bread muffins. Inedible was the "squash soufflé". The other vegetables were extremely under seasoned. A person in my party asked the waitress to bring us our desert, it was posted to be a strawberry cobbler with ice cream and we were excited to try it after the disappointing meal. The waitress said she bring it after she cleared our table and off she went. We waited and waited. When she finally decided to acknowledge us the next time she came from the kitchen, we asked again for our strawberry cobbler. She went off to the kitchen without clearing one plate. She returned with Apple Brown Betty that was terrible and inedible and said they had just run out of the strawberry cobbler. They had served Apple Brown Betty the day before so guess what--leftovers. Another item listed as on the menu but not served was Cabbage Casserole. I would not eat here again, but if you do, make sure you ask before you are seated if they have menu items available that are listed. I really don't see how this could be called a family restaurant, not many families of four could drop a hundred bucks for dinner, a drink was extra and we were not offered refills.
