“Nice part of Atlanta area to stay in”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

Stayed here for a conference, which was hosted at the hotel.

I got the MARTA from the airport, changing in the city centre. If you catch the trains just right you can make the whole trip in around 40 mins, but at worst it would be around an hour. The hotel is a short walk from the Decatur MARTA station, perfectly manageable unless you are laden with bags.

The check in staff were very friendly and the lobby, as noted elsewhere, is great. There is a small gym as well although I never got round to using it. The room was of a good size and very clean.

The internet is free, which makes such a nice change from so many hotels who charge you for it, forcing you into the nearest coffee shop to check your email, etc.

The only minor criticism I have is the hopelessly overpriced snack shop in the lobby. If you can stock up at the nearby CVS, you'll not need to use this, though.

I'd suggest exploring the places to eat in the square, although there is a McDonald's right by the hotel.

All in all, a nice hotel and a nice part of GA. Particularly handy if you don't want to stay in downtown Atlanta.

Great lobby. Many small, individual spaces for friends to gather or just watch the news. The lobby makes the place. Great location. Terrible breakfast. I ordered instead of eating from the buffet so I would have a freshly made hot bkfst. Everything on my plate was cold and I think taken from the buffet. It took several tries to get it right. UNACCEPTABLE!! Very limited choices for lunch and dinner. Marriott should be able to do way better on the food situation. Shame on Marriott.
My room never got cleaned. This hotel needs big help with service.
If the food and service improved, this would be a gold mine. Let's hope it does.

Room Tip: The lobby makes this hotel. It is modern, updated, many small, separate places to join friends and...

Hotel used to be the Holiday Inn, now part of Marriott. Rooms redone, very nice, good size, quiet and clean. Beds very comfy. Hotel staff not as helpful as the old Holiday Inn but close. Free shuttle to and from the CDC. With an easy connection via the MARTA makes it a painless way of getting in and out of Atlanta when doing business at the CDC. Front desk friendly, but not real good at forwarding messages. Had multiple occasions when messages were delayed or incorrectly relayed. Small annoyance to an otherwise very nice stay. Gym is small but more than adequate.

Stayed here two nights and it is a ver nicley furnished hotel. Great location, walking distance to MARTA. Everything was fine except in the mornings it took 15 minutes to get oatmeal. I had to leave it as I ran out of time waiting. also, unexplaained charges appeared on my card when I got back which have still not been resolved. Will not stay here again for that reason.

This is a very nice Courtyard. It has a very modern look and the new Courtyard lobby was very good.

I stayed in a King room and the room was spacious and well laid out. The flat screen is very large and they have digital channels.

The Internet worked well. Parking is in a garage below the hotel and there is a charge to park.

Breakfast in the lobby was good and the staff was nice.

There are many restaurants within walking distance. I ate at Montana Grill and would recommend it.

I would recommend this Courtyard.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room to reduce outside noises (traffic).

Clean and spacious room but for the price of over $100 I'd expect a microwave and some water to make tea. I'm not a big coffee lover and wouldn't use a room coffee maker to heat up some water to make tee with the smell of coffee. During check-in I've got a pass for breakfast, which was good up to $10 only! I consider it a ripoff as an average plate with eggs is around $9 with nothing else and no drink. It's not about few more bucks out of pocket - it's about convenience. Is Marriott that greedy to make a few more dollars? There is no buffet and nothing more is available unless you ask for it like some more butter or jam or whatever. Small things one might say but I'm not staying there anymore.

Great upgrade from the Holiday Inn that used to be here. The pool is salt water, well maintained and comfortable. The staff was friendly and the hotel was spotless. Decatur is a fun "walk around" city. Really good restaurants & shops. Very enjoyable stay.
