Last time we were in Atlanta, Dec/Jan timeframe we noticed that Lawrence's on Buford Hwy seemed to be closed. It was our favorite place over twenty years ago as we frequented it for years. Over the last few years it had fallen a bit and we were sad. But it is now back and better than we remembered it. And so happy it is in Decatur.

This past week we had to try it and were not the least bit disappointed. The food was outstanding, fresh and tasty. We had the lamb wrap, which was very, very good. The meat was grilled to perfection. We also shared the Falafels which were some of the best anywhere. Light and perfectly seasoned. We had to have the homemade yogurt with cucumbers, and the tabouli is the freshest ever and out of this world. Can't wait to return. This will become a go to place when in Decatur.

This was our 2nd attempt to try the new Decatur location of Lawrence's Cafe. The first time, we wanted to get takeout on a Saturday night, but they don't do it until 8:30 pm on Saturday nights. The second time, tonight, my daughter and I made it to the restaurant and had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Part of the problem is that every table seats 4. Do the math. There were lots of tables for 2, with 2 empty chairs.
Anyway, we had a lovely meal (falafel platter and salmon entre) and ordered 2 takeout plates for those left at home. When we got home, we discovered they had not put in the pita bread, which was a disappointment. The dessert was a tiny pastry for $3, another disappointment.
Overall, we expected better from Lawrence's. We will give it a couple of months to find its footing, dealing with an influx of eager patrons in a small space that is not quite accommodating.

I've been visiting Tony's restaurant for almost three years. I never tire of eating his food. The tabbouleh is the freshest possible and made with the tenderest selection of parsley combined with an ideal balance of tomato and buckwheat to which is added just the right of lemon, a little oil, and no doubt some ingredient from the magic kingdom. Ditto the magic and the freshness for his hummus.

His lentil soup, his various meats, grilled, skewered or otherwise, and his homemade desserts are all equally special. Not a huge fan of his pita bread but the Lebanese coffee more than makes up for it.

What the restaurant lacks on the outside it more than makes up for on the inside! Runout has it he may be moving into a much nicer location in Decatur soon. Best of luck. I'll be there to check it out!

What a great restaurant with a neighborhood "feel" within walking distance in the Midtown area. The bartender was very learned in his beverage making and geared us to a special beverage that would suit our liking. The wine list is good, ask about their wine "special", it is usually a hard-to-find varietal. The food was fabulous ranging from pork belly, oxtail, rabbit etc, but had a wide variety for vegetarians as well. Everything we tasted was delicious. They had a in-house beef jerky available for purchase at the bar that was great. I highly recommend Lawrence's and will return on my next trip to Atlanta.
