“Lovely Hotel”

We stayed at the Lodge at Amicalola the night before visiting the Falls. The lodge is perfectly situated up on a rise so that you can see the mountains all around you. The view is gorgeous from your room. The room was very clean and well kept. The furnishings were a bit old and out of date, but were comfortable. The front desk staff was great (but the staff in the restaurant was just ok - I have another review of the restaurant). I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in the lodge which is on top the mountain. The view out our room window was beautiful. Accomodations were basic "state park" but clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the lodge restaurant which was a buffet. Overall, the food was not good. We'll go back in the future but will probably buy a sub sandwich at home, put it in an ice chest, and avoid the restaurant. All considered, we had a really nice weekend.

Not to far from Atlanta which was a nice ride there. We stayed in the lodge at the state park while we were there. First of all that left alot to be desired, check-in was smooth and that is the only good thing I have to say about the lodge (Other than it has a great view). Our room was UUUHHHHHH.... very small, cramped, stuffy, outdated. There were alot of things in the room that did not work ( most of the lights, not vent in the bathroom which was right next to your bed, the sink stopper was jammed so the water did not run out of the sink, bed was ????????... Ok you get the picture I was ready to go after one day...... After you see the falls and go up and down the step at the falls, go on a hiking trail thats it. The Lodge resturant ????? >>>> do not recommend over priced for the food. Sat. the price was $19.95 per adult... If you need something from store be prepared to drive about 35 minutes there and 35min. back to the closest Town. THIS IS A TRIP YOU CAN DO IN A DAY PASSING THROUGH. OR IF YOU ARE IN THE ATLANTA AREA DRIVE OVER AND COME BACK THAT DAY... GOOD LUCK ALL

We stayed here one night. Should have been more. Outstanding value. Ask for room as high up as available. View of the area is breathtaking. Place was spotless. Only downside is that there is no place to eat nearby (miles) other than in their restaurant which is a buffet. Food is good but plain. Great hiking trails and the falls are a must see!

We went to Amicalola falls state park in mid March For a long weekend. We had originaly planed to stay just one night and travel south to callaway gardens the second night but upon arriving at the Lodge and seeing the wonderful view and beautiful surroundings my wife quickly voted to stay the entire time there. The Lodge is very well run for a state run property and the surrounding park has a lot of what we were looking for in the way of day hiking (The AT trail starts it 1,000"s + mile journey via a connecting trail 8 miles away) The High lite of the park is one of the larger water falls in the east and the well kept trails that get you up close . The trails offered are from easy to mid/stren with a unique 600 step set of stairs that climb from the bottom of the falls to the top. For those inclined the is a road that ends at the top with a mid point parking for a ADA access trail to bottom viewing area . The Lodge is situated at the top of the falls and all rooms offer fantastic wide ranging views from their large picture windows. There is also a resturant on site offering an all u can eat buffet for around $10.00 dollars with the same fantastic view . The food on our first night was basic mediocre but on the second night was very good (Saturday ) They do offer Beer and Wine for consumption in the lower lodge.

My husband and I just returned from a two-night stay at the lodge. The facility was very clean and very quiet -- despite the number of wound-up, happy children staying there. We never heard a peep once we were in the room...and we were about five rooms down the hall from the gift shop.
This place is a bit out of the way, not particularly hard to find but expect at least a 30 minute drive to restaurants and other facilities. The buffet on-site was fine and reasonably priced (I think it was $10.95 for dinner), but it is a buffet. Some things got dried out under the heat lamps.
The service was excellent at the restaurant. The front desk staff were a little slow in checking in people but that could have been a computer problem or something complicated with the group ahead of us. Not a major complaint.
The restaurant, lobby, and rooms face the mountains -- quite a view as the place is on the ridge. An outdoor patio has chairs to enjoy the sunset.
The rooms are in need of a facelift in some areas. The beds are very comfortable and the linens seemed fairly new, but some of the wood furniture was scratched, the wallpaper was stained and starting to peel in places around the sink, and the plumbing is functioning but definitely has some age on it. The operable windows worked once (they got stuck open in the middle of the night, of course). Hopefully the Georgia Park Service will get the funding they need to do some sprucing up. For us it wasn't a big deal as long as it was clean, which it definitely was.
We really could have used a room safe. We were provided with a free paper every day and in-room coffee maker.
Warning in case you want to book a cabin: the cabins labeled "at the base of the falls" means across the main access road from the visitor's center. This is a very busy place and a far cry from a "wilderness experience". There is a nice looking playground next to the visitor's station, though, so they are not all bad for familes with kids. The upper cabins look very nice from the outside (they are in the woods), and we will try to stay there next time as we both enjoy cooking.

Hubby and I spent three nights at the lodge this past week. We were in a jr. suite, with sitting room and a lovely balcony. We watched the sunset over the mountains in the evening from our balcony. The tree outside our window came equipped with a mama robin and her nest of eggs. How considerate! ; )

The staff was friendly and helpful. For a state-run lodge, this one seems to be above the norm. Clean, spacious, and beautiful. Dawsonville Premium Outlets just 18 miles down the mountain, too.

Only negatives: weak WiFi and reheated buffet in the restaurant. HINT: Head to Blue Ridge and try the Great Eats deli! Super food!

Enjoy!
