This is a beautiful place to visit. There is a visitor center that has live reptiles. It also has great information on the wildlife in the area. It’s also the beginning of the Appalachian trail. If you want to go on the trail you need to register first.

The waterfall is beautiful. But if you decide to climb the stairs make sure you are somewhat in shape. The views are amazing no matter which place you are at. There are three viewpoints the bottom, middle, and the top. There is fishing at the pond at the bottom but make sure you have both a fishing license and trout stamp before you start to fish. There are plenty places to picnic, camp, and stay at either the cottages or the lodge. I know that during the fall it’s their busiest season because of the leaves changing colors so if you want to stay here make sure you do it way in advance.

Decided last minute to head up to Amicalola Falls from Atlanta today. We haven’t been here in many years and it was so nice to be back. We walked up the stairs to the platform and had to walk the rest of the way up on the path. Our dog couldn’t handle the steps..hurt her paws. Once were were at the top of the falls we took the trail down and we loved it! Our dog was happier and the kids loved it. It was a great family hike!

This park was amazing. We loved the falls, but we started at the top and walked our way down. We were able to stop along the way for some amazing pictures. We were very happy to have made the trip to Amicalola Falls.
