I actually live 15 minutes from Amicalola Falls. We only ate at the restaurant one time, and I guess I expected the Golden Corral. While it was not that large of a buffet, it was decent. At least it was not overpriced and snooty! The service was good and the food was fine. I only expected a little nicer since it was in the lodge, but if you want expensive and fancy Dahlonega is just a short drive away. Family friendly is how I'd describe this restaurant.

After eating, I saw the Health Inspection score was 86. That made us feel great. Came home and looked up the scores for the past 3 years, range from 81-86. Totally unacceptible. In our county, they shut you down at 86, if not officially, by word of mouth.

We made reservations months in advance for thanksgiving, and were told we'd get a nicer table with a view. Okay, that sounds nice. In reality, we had to wait 45 minutes after checking in to get our table, while lots of other families were seated right away. After 30 minutes of waiting we complained, and were brushed off as if we were lucky to be there. The worst part was more than half the tables were empty (and all actually have the same view).

Once we were seated and got to the buffet, there were no plates! Someone else in front of us had to actually walk back to the kitchen and ask them to restock the plates. Bread was hard as a rock, turkey wasn't even carved, just served in a big soggy platter with watery gravy. We were so disappointed. For the money, I expected reasonably fine dining. We ended up with cafeteria style food. No, make that cafeteria at a retirement home. We vowed to make thanksgiving meal at home the next week and definitely not count that experience as a holiday!

Since we stayed at the lodge that night, breakfast was included. Imagine the humor when we went to the buffet for breakfast and they were still out of plates! They also ran out of most of the food while we were there, no yogurt, bread, etc. Biscuits were flaky and would have been delicious if not coated in FAKE butter. Not sure why they couldn't use real ingredients, but it really ruined them.
