A change in schedule turned the trip from a country getaway with boyfriend to a girlfriend shop/eat/walk Savannah. We had 2 nights with Jan and Bill who are genuinely friendly gracious hosts you would like as friends or neighbors. Blue Heron is a place to relax (which we didn't on this trip!), enjoy coffee in the AM on the deck or a glass of wine in the PM and let the birds coming to the feeders entertain you. We needed more time there to explore the wildlife refuges, the islands and the beaches. If you are visiting Savannah there are plenty of places to stay in the Historic District but try to get out of town and experience what Blue Heron offers.

For fresh shrimp to carry home with you, Bill recommended Ocean's Bounty. Call first, however. Mary Alice, the co-owner, was totally out when we stopped by. She went out of her way to find us 10 lbs from another shrimper and took the time to behead them all before packing them in ice.

My husband and I just returned from spending the weekend at the Blue Heron Inn. what a great place to get away. From the gracious hosts, to the fantastic food and variety of opportunities.. we were so blessed. The view from our room extended over the beautiful marsh while numerous varieties of birds and plants graced the balcony off of our room. One of our favorite getaways.

My husband and I wanted a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of things. Blue Heron B&B was exactly what we needed! We stayed in the Blue Heron Room which was comfortable and romantic! The view from the balcony was breathtaking and we enjoyed sitting out by the marsh at night watching the stars! I would recommend this B&B to anyone who just wants to relax and slow down a bit. Bill and Jan were very kind and welcoming. We will definitely be back to Blue Heron and to Darien!

This was my first visit to the Blue Heron and probably not the last. I stayed in the
Shell Seeker room which contained a tv in the sitting area and a king sized bed in bedroom. Sliding glass doors opened from each room onto this deck overlooking the marsh. There are plenty of birds flying about and I can see why this place is popular with bird watchers. It is very beautiful and secluded which is not everyone's thing but it is perfect to get away from traffic and noise and retreat back to the quiet that is so missed in every day life.

The owners, Jan and Bill, are delightful hosts and are very accommodating in making sure your stay is perfect. Their recommendations for dinner were excellent and the breakfast of quiche and scones one morning and key lime French toast the next were to die for. I can't wait to go and stay again.

This was our first trip to the Blue Heron. We stayed in The Savannah Room and it's just as pretty as the online pictures. It was very comfortable and everything was spotless.
The view from the balcony is gorgeous - miles of unspoiled marsh/waterfront views. Probably looks like it did hundreds of years ago. The photo of the marsh on the website is exactly what you see from the sliding glass door of the Savannah Room balcony. We had our coffee there in the morning as the sun came up - what a way to start the day!
One of the first things we saw when we looked outside were hummingbirds at the feeder in front of our room. We are avid birdwatchers, so we were delighted! Birds are everywhere, painted buntings, black-capped chickadees, all kinds!
Our hosts, Jan and Bill are very gracious and interesting to talk to. You really get a sense of "Mi casa, es tu casa" from them! The wine and cheese in the evening is great, the coffee and breakfast is delightful. We had Key Lime French Toast served with strawberries, bananas, kiwi, and blueberries. There was crisp bacon, cantaloupe and delicious Vermont maple syrup. You will not go away hungry!
We had a wonderful stay, and plan to go back. If you want a quiet, unspoiled and very well-appointed - but unpretentious -place to stay, this is your place. We spent the previous evening at the Hyatt in downtown Savannah, and that was lovely too, but this place is so laid-back and nice. You won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: The Savannah room was a great value - beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable, with a spectacular view.
