“Amazing History”

What a plesant surprise for a history teacher! I had no idea that the fort even existed. The Museum was very well done and the fort itself was a true marvel.

You are taken back in time to colonial times when the fort was built and an active part of Georgia history.

“Fascinating look at historical fort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2011

Bring your bug spray! Seriously, the mosquitos are bad at certain times of year. But it's well worth your time to visit this historic site and learn about the oldest English fort remaining on the coast of Georgia. The site's buildings have been reconstructed with great accuracy and really let you get a feel for what life was like for the soldiers in the 1700s. The park rangers were friendly and informative, without being overbearing. Kids loved the museum and the artifacts.

“Great piece of history”

The walk around the fort makes you feel like you are back in the 16th century and it also makes you glad you weren't. Well preserved and fun to visit.

“A rousing re enactment.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2011

We just happended to be in Darrien on the day of the reenactment of a battle for Fort King George, and pardon my history but I think it was the French vs. the English, and the fort was taken. Then the fort was open for the public with demonstrations. The blacksmith making a dagger was particularly interesting for the little ones. Prices were reasonable and for two little boys one couldn't ask for a better afternoon's entertainment.
