Description: Back Porch Oyster Bar Restaurant is inspired by coastal North Carolina cuisine, our seafood is fine dining in a fun atmosphere. Our menu runs the gamut from simple fried catfish to Ahi tuna tartare, pan seared Chilean Sea Bass in a lemon beurre blanc, and cold water lobster tails. We also have a wide selection of cold water oysters from Northeastern U.S. and Canada. Yes you can find great seafood in the North Georgia Mountains!!

Went here with a group of 6 people for dinner (4 white, 2 black). We were told that there was a 30 minute wait, so we went across the street and had a beer/wine while we waited. When we got back to The Back Porch, we were told it would be another 30 minutes. We could see that there were a lot of empty tables inside, but we were told that they didn't have enough waitstaff even though it was a SATURDAY and a football night. The old guy who was telling us all of this (I guess the owner) did not even look our black friends in the eye. He threatened to call the police on us. At this point there was no way I would have eaten there under any circumstances, and we left. We found a much friendlier place to eat and spend our money, and I will not go back to TBP again. What made it even worse was that one of our friends was visiting from Canada and could only shake his head and say he'd never seen anything like it in his life. For the first time, I was embarrassed to be a Georgian.

Our group of 6 went on a Wednesday evening for a birthday. It was a great evening. The staff (and owners) were very friendly and accommodating. The beer & wine list was impressive, and the food was awesome. We had called ahead for reservations, and practically as soon as we sat down they brought out a big bowl of crab dip and pita triangles - which everyone agreed were awesome. We all enjoyed our meals and several ordered desserts. Admittedly they were not very busy, but all the staff was very friendly and the service was top notch. Anytime we're in Dahlonega this is one place we can always count on for a good meal.

We headed over for lunch. It was not very busy and the staff was very friendly. The Crab Bisque was excellent, the Oyster appetizer was very good. Finally the Cuban sandwich was excellent. We had a nice lunch with seafood North Georgia. Who knew?

We ate dinner on the Porch on Monday, had delicious Fish Tacos and Thai Shrimp. They were understaffed and had to call Trish, the owner to come in and waitress, and she took great personal care of us. Trish and her husband run a charming, friendly restaurant/bar. We went back there on Tuesday afternoon to watch the Red Sox game before going to another restaurant for dinner, but Natalie the bartender took such good care of us, and the crab dip was so delicious, that we cancelled our dinner reservation and stayed there! When Wednesday came and we needed to eat dinner, we decided to go back to the bar and watch the Sox game. We ate dinner at the bar and Trish's son Brian was our bartender. They were also short-staffed this day, and Brian kept apologizing (but he didn't need to) and he even bought us a round. We had the special of filet with mashed and lobster, and it was perfect.
The food is delicious here, the staff friendly and fun, and the decor is a mix of Key West/ Outer Banks. Will DEFINITELY recommend and wish we had a local bar/restaurant just like it. Enjoy!

Great atmosphere, great food and TV's for watching the football games. We had the Crab dip and it was perfect, full of meat, cheese and a little spicy and the pita triangles made a perfect dipping accompaniment. We also had the Gorgonzola Shrimp and Pasta and it was perfect. Rich sauce, great seasonings and lots of large shrimp and a generous portion. Friendly wait staff and great atmosphere. We sat upstairs where the TV's were so we could watch the Saturday College Football games while we rested and enjoyed our meal. Highly recommended.
