“Fantastic, Simply Fantastic!”

My in-laws stayed at the Long Mountain Lodge about 3 months ago and decided to take my husband and I up there this past weekend. We had the most wonderful time. The lodge is beautiful and peaceful. The owners are warm and truly made us feel at home. The breakfast was my favorite part. We had the most delicious warm baked pears. She is simply a wonderful cook. I HIGHLY recommend the Lodge as well as the cabin which is where we stayed. It's huge and if you have a large family, it's a great place to stay.

Six of us took a trip to Dahlonega Georgia to celebrate my brother's birthday and to enjoy some of the wineries in the area. We got online and found Long Mountain Lodge. The website was very easy to use and informative. We booked three rooms for one night and headed to Georgia. Upon arriving we were met by Diane who was very gracious and showed us around the lodge and to our rooms. What a beautiful place, each room had a fireplace already set up to be used. There was bottled water in each room along with some delicious chocolate. We put our things away and met in the main room where Diane offered several different kinds of wines and a cheese tray. I asked her for a recommendation for dinner and she told us that the Corkscrew restaurant in downtown Dahlonega was a good place. She then called and got a reservation for us. This is just and example of the level of service we received there. I have been to places where it seemed the hosts were just doing a job but Diane ant Tim really seemed to want us to enjoy our stay. With out a doubt they are the most hospitable bed and breakfast couple I have ever seen. We will be staying there again.

The Lodge is beautifully furnished and in a beautiful and serene setting about 15 minutes from the center of town. The 3 course breakfast was wonderful. In addition, Dianne bakes chocolate chip cookies and sets them out with sherry and apples. In the afternoon she has wine, cheese and crackers. The library has a small refrigerator with complimentary drinks and microwave popcorn. We were there for 6Gap bike event and the owners went out of their way to prepare an additional early breakfast for all of the riders. We have already reserved for 6Gap next year!

My fiance and I stayed at the Long Mountain Lodge for a romantic three-day weekend away from it all - and it couldn't have met our expectations more perfectly!

The Lodge itself was about 6 miles outside of downtown Dahlonega. It was not too far off the beaten path and was very easy to reach with the directions the inn provided upon booking the reservation.

The moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a special treat. The Quigleys, who own the Lodge, pull out all the stops for their guests.

Each room is beautifully appointed, very private (many with their own entrances), immaculately clean, and complete with fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs (including bath salts and spa-quality robes). The house was so quiet - even when booked up on a Saturday night - that we never even knew there were other guests in the lodge until we came out of our room!

There were many books and flyers available in the lobby for local waterfalls, hiking trails, things "to do" and places to eat, and Dianne was very helpful in offering suggestions based on her 15 years of residing in the area. The library downstairs was stocked for guests with books, DVDs, games, drinks and snacks, and fish food for the ponds on the property.

Each morning we were awakened by the smell of Dianne's exceptional culinary skills - served by candlelight in 3 (!) courses. We especially loved her Blueberry Coffee Cake and Carmelized Pears (she even shared the recipes for these with me). And each evening we were treated to fresh oven-baked cookies with wine and sherry.

The cabin itself has spectacular mountain views; the view from our room was no exception, and there was a huge porch on the back on the house with Adirondack chairs for relaxing.

Dahlonega itself offers a wide variety of things to do, and we had nothing but good experiences (detailed in another review). If you're looking for a weekend away from the city - you won't regret staying at Long Mountain Lodge...in fact, you might be so spoiled by the Quigleys that you never want to leave! We will definitely be back for another visit...

  • Liked — Gorgeous accomodations in a peaceful setting - with fabulous food!
  • Disliked — Absolutely nothing - this was a real gem needing no room for improvement!

Coming from Nashville, this place was a great easy drive for a girls weekend away or family weekend away. Dahlonega has some excellent wineries and is like a young Ashville, NC and has tons of local art, food, antiquing and wine. Where we stayed is about 10-20 min away from the historic square and about that from the wineries. We stayed in the Cabin—the lodge is gorgeous and would stay there if just 2 of us but the cabin allowed us to each have a bed to sleep in. TOTALLY clean, nice, had 2 full bathrooms a fully stocked kitchen (meaning plates and pans), ping-pong table and washer and dryer. The lodge is gorgeous and the food wonderful but we chose the cabin due to being 4 of us. This would also be perfect for a family as they have horseback riding and canoeing and hiking. The price, cleanliness and closeness to everything makes this the best place I have stayed.

My husband and recently moved from Colorado to Florida and were really missing the mountains. We began planning a 4-day trip to the Georgia Mountains and found the Long Mountain Lodge on the Internet and decided to make a reservation. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and were not sure if we would like it. We were pleasantly surprised.
Upon arrival there were fresh baked chocolate cookies sitting out for us. We were also offered a wide variety of beverages from the well-stocked fridge. Our room was beautifully decorated but not overdone, and was very clean. The lodge sits up on a hill and we had a good view of the mountains from our room. When we headed back down a few hours later, there was an evening snack tray. There is a trout pond on the property, where you can feed the fish (again, the food is provided by the lodge). We had more to eat and drink and then made some of the microwave popcorn that was provided. We headed back to our room and watched a movie.
The best came in the morning. Dianne made us an amazing three-course breakfast and then she began baking more cookies. She made fresh cookies each morning and there were enough for all day.
My husband and I set out for our day hike and Dianne made sure to send us off with plenty of water bottles. When we arrived back to the lodge after our hike, the evening snack had been laid out along with the cookies. We grabbed some food and went to our room. It had been cleaned up and we were left water and chocolate.
The next two mornings brought a wonderful breakfast and each evening brought delicious treats. We will defiantly be back to the Long Mountain Lodge.

My husband and I stayed at the Lodge for a friends wedding. It was wonderful. We can not tell you how nice the owners are and the food was beyond our expectations.

We would recommend this Lodge to anyone.
