While planning a last minute getaway for the weekend, we searched for B&B's close to Helen, GA that had great reviews on Tripadvsior. We found Cedar House, and they had availability in their Carolina Suite. The booking process was very smooth and quick. Cedar House is about 30 miles from Helen, so it was not as close as we originally thought. However, the drive to Helen was fine and we were able to see a lot of th beautiful countryside on the way. Cedar House was perfectly secluded in a quaint town with friendly locals. Mary Beth and Fred greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel right at home. Cedar House is beautifuly decorated, clean and environmentally friendly. Our room was amazing! The Carolina Suite is spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and had its own a/c unit, in addition to the central air in the B&B, so that we could regulate the temperature on our room to our liking. There was even a no-heat, electric fire place to create a nice, romantic ambiance! The bathroom was very clean and very spacious. That evening, Mary Beth and Fred commended that we venture into downtown Dahlonega for dessert. Based on their suggestion, we went to a GREAT restaurant called the Corkscrew and decided to have a little dinner and dessert. We dined on the most delicious trout followed by warm apple bread pudding! Breakfast at the Cedar House the next morning was so delicious and healthy. There were so many dishes that I had never had for breakfast, so unfortunately I cannot name them. Our breakfast conversation was full of laughter, talks about traveling experiences and family! Just perfect! Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

Room Tip: We recommend the Carolina Suite..it is very spacious.

We stayed at the Inn for five nights in April while attending a niece’s wedding and touring the wineries and other attractions in the area. Our room was large, comfortable, and immaculate, not cute or frilly as some B&Bs tend to be. Mary Beth’s breakfasts were excellent – imaginative and flavorful. While we did not stay in a yurt we did take a look and it was quite charming and civilized. Mary Beth & Fred, our hosts, are warm, friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable about Dahlonega and the surrounding area. (MB even helped us find us a yoga teacher!) As a bonus, Fred gave us an informative and interesting tour of the grounds, which he manages according to the principles of permaculture. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly!

When I found the Cedar House Inn online and read that it had Yurts to sleep in I was so excited! I have had friends tell me to try a yurt because you sleep so well in them. The area is beautiful and Mary Beth and Fred are perfect hosts. They are very sociable and know the area. They even had warm cookies and hot tea when we arrived! Yum! The Inn is cozy, charming and secluded in the woods! The Yurt was comfortable, like being home and we did sleep very well. We had our own private bath at the back of the house that we could use with our own key. Mary Beth and Fred helped us find a great winery to visit and a local mountain to climb called Preacher's Rock! Great view. The breakfast was incredible! Mary Beth is quite a cook. Home made french toast with an incredible peach sauce, mixed fresh fruit, veggie sausage, OJ, hot tea and coffee. Great way to start the day! I highly recommend this Inn as a great place to stay for the weekend or a couple of days as great getaway!

Room Tip: Try the Yurt! It was a great choice!

My husband and I stayed here over night for a weekend getaway from Atlanta. We stayed in the Cherokee Suite, which was clean, spacious and quiet. This bed and breakfast is conveniently located near all the wineries, and a short drive from downtown Dahlonega. We were also close enough to drive into the National Forests for some day hiking. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. There was homemade chai and cookies waiting for us when we checked in (incredible) and breakfast was fresh fruit, blueberry french toast and vegetarian sausage. This was my first visit to a bed and breakfast and I was really pleased. The owners were friendly, but kept a comfortable and appropriate distance. We will defiantly return.
