“Detailed pictoral of the Georgia Gold Rush”

Really enjoyed our time at this small but interesting mining museum. The mining pictures and equipment displays give a great picture of the discovery of Gold in Georgia, The museum staff
are very well versed on local history and a great resource to the weekend traveler.

“Nice museum”

The kids might find this one a little boring. However, it's a good visit to make to complement the Gold Mine tour.

“Gold Rush in Georgia? Who knew?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Dahlonega, GA is the site of the first U.S. gold rush. That's right - a full 20 years or so before everyone rushed to California, fortunes were being made (and sometimes lost) right here in Georgia! As a local resident, I highly recommend any visit to Dahlonega include a stop at the gold museum. It is a fascinating look at the history of our area - very well done and worth the cheap admission ($6.00 for adults, cheaper for seniors, kids and even kids under the age of 6) It's a don't-miss when I host out of town visitors and show them around my lovely hometown!

“Really interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

We happened to be there when a geology class from the college came in with a teacher who knew lots about gold and history. It added to the tour but even without the college kids, it was really interesting. The movie is informative and we learned a lot. Well worth doing.

Not very large but offered some interesting exhibits and history of the gold rush era. They have a movie as well about the area.
