This site is a fantastic place to hike and is literally right around the corner from my home.
There are 3 trails to choose from and you can visit from one of two entrances. The primary one on Spot Road has a nature center with restrooms, clean facilities and all sorts of things to see and do. They host camps here in the summer and I highly recommend them for parents with younger kids.
This entrance puts you on the back end of the longest of the 3 trails. but in a good spot to head up to the main attraction, the Indian Seats viewing area. It's a great spot to see the changing of the colors in the fall.
The second entrance is on Tribble Gap Road. I assume it's still open since I have not been there in a while. Form there, you can take the short Yucca Trail which takes you to two closed gold mine shafts, the Indian Seats trail to the summit of Sawnee Mountain or the Laurel Trail, a 6 miles stroll around the base of the mountain. I've done all 3 many times.
If you are in the area, stop by!
