“Mediocre barbecue, too peppery”

Nice experience to see a rustic building. They need to offer more than the NC vinegar BBQ. Nice portions, mediocre BBQ, a bit pricey. Not going back.

Great fun for hunters to hang out, but the food is less desirable. Average bbq that's over priced. Don't know how they survive in the off months.

Went to this place in 2009. Did not think much of it then. Was back in the area in September of 2010 and decided to give it another try. I've seen good reviews of this place, but - personally - I have had much better. The pulled pork is bland tasting to me and the brunswick stew is pretty bad tasting. Sorry, I am not a fan of Heavy's.

The Brunswick stew is to die for; the barbecue is excellent and very tasty, not over smoked or sauced, and a good value by the pound. Store ambiance is a trip back in time; stay and explore a while. The service is prompt and friendly, as it is provided by the family who owns it. No franchise or corporate feeling here. We buy the stew by the gallon and the barbecue by the pound. Both freeze well. Since we live about 130 miles away we do not get to visit as often as we used to, when our parents lived in Atlanta. This Memorial Day, we will be serving our friends some of Georgia's best brunswick stew; and we would only share it with true friends. By the way, they also serve ribs, burgers and wings, all prepared fresh every day just like the cue and stew.

If you are going anywhere near Crawfordville Ga. , you have to stop by Heavy's. The Pork is great , the stew is unbeiveable . The freah made sweet patato pie is worth the trip alone . The cole slaw is made fresh several times a day . Too much to look at . Nothing like the fire place in the winter time . Fast and friendly .
