“A real whistle post”
Reviewed July 22, 2012 via mobile

Dining here on Sunday with the pretty , young waitstaff and the trains whistling One hundred feet away makes this the perfect boutique restaurant for a rough and tumble town. But the food ain't badd either. Go and enjoy!

“A place to meet up...”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

I've been here twice now, both times meeting coworkers for a drink. The food prices seem a bit high, but the portions are large, so you can split an order with a pal if you are in a pinch. The place is prepared for large groups so it's fine for Friday 4:30 drinks or schmoozing with buddies. It doesn't have much atmosphere, and I always feel like I'm in a nice, clean barn. The servers are very friendly and accommodating.

“Down Home Delight”
Reviewed April 5, 2011

We have probably passed by the Whistle Post on our previous trips through Conyers and not taken it seriously as a place to eat. It sits right beside the busy track that runs down the middle of this charming old Georgia railway town and looks for all the world like a crumbling, half-abandoned railshed of some kind. But on our most recent stop in Conyers, some locals highly recommended it. And now we will recommend it, too.

Make no mistake, though--this is a real tavern, not the place for a quiet candlelit dinner--just a big, barnlike space adorned with railway memorabilia: a huge bar, vast liquor selection, a good range of draft and bottled beers, and a rather meagre choice of wines. Foodwise--perhaps oddly for a tavern--you can even come here for breakfast. On the evening of our visit, the place had attracted an eclectic crowd ranging from seniors to young singles and couples to family groups. Lots of musical entertainment is apparently laid on for later in the evening.

The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was tasty and homemade, right down to a decent version of creme brule. On a warm evening, the outside patio would have been inviting and more peaceful than the party atmosphere within, better for viewing the railside action, too.

All in all, a great local flavour spot in an interesting little town.
