Rose Hill is truly an institution in Columbus which I have frequented for over 40 years. The market and restaurant are only open Wednesday through Saturday for lunch or supper. The restaurant is most famous for its' fried catfish which is very good. They also serve broiled fish. The place is not at all fancy, nor is the food but it is the kind of place that you see your neighbors and old friends and the servers know a lot of the customers by name. Most of my trips to Rose Hill are for the oyster bar in the market side of the building. Again, nothing fancy but the best and freshest oysters in Columbus. Usually the oysters are from Apalachicola, FL and when unavailable from there, they are brought in from Texas. The price for them (around $7.50 a dozen) is a lot less than most places including places in Florida. An added bonus is the fact that you can bring in your own beer or wine. If you want to buy fish to cook yourself or enjoy a fish dinner without having to cook, this is the place.
