Owner description: The National Infantry Museum emphasizes the values that define the Infantryman, as well as the nation he protects: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. It preserves and displays one of the greatest collections of military artifacts in the world, but it is a museum of people, not things. As a visitor, you will meet the Infantryman face to face and join him on his journey. You will come to understand why an Infantryman does what he does, why he puts himself in harm’s way in defense of an idea and you will leave transformed, just as the Infantry transforms the man into the Soldier. The 190,000-square-foot museum opened in June 2009 on a 200-acre tract of hardwoods and pines just outside the gates of the Fort Benning Maneuver Center of Excellence.

I would highly recommend seeing this museum. So much history about our military here. This is a beautiful, new facility. The onsite restaurant (The Drum & Fife) was not that great.

Having begun and ended my military career at Ft Benning, I am grateful to General White for what is the premier Army military museum anywhere. The history lesson for those who haven't served as well as spouses, children and grandchildren gives them a small window into our world

Be sure to have at least two hours, then eat lunch at the restaurant. All exceptional and if you are a history buff, this may take even longer. Areas are divided into time periods and major war histories (World War I, WWII, Vietnam, etc.) and all are respectfully done.

If you are interested in infantry history, this is the place to be. Located pretty much on Fort Benning, which is infantry birth place, home of Army Rangers, Armor School, Infantry School, Airborne School.
Great museum. It has an IMAX. Entrance is generally free, sometimes they request small donations
