Attraction details
Owner description: The National Infantry Museum emphasizes the values that define the Infantryman, as well as the nation he protects: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. It preserves and displays one of the greatest collections of military artifacts in the world, but it is a museum of people, not things. As a visitor, you will meet the Infantryman face to face and join him on his journey. You will come to understand why an Infantryman does what he does, why he puts himself in harm’s way in defense of an idea and you will leave transformed, just as the Infantry transforms the man into the Soldier. The 190,000-square-foot museum opened in June 2009 on a 200-acre tract of hardwoods and pines just outside the gates of the Fort Benning Maneuver Center of Excellence.

This is one of the best museums we have ever visited. Exhibits were life like with dioramas, movies, trenches you walked through and could feel the floor move, overhead projections, a children's area where they can dress in combat attire,, military vehicles, combat scenes ,dday exhibit, etc.Every war America was involved in was explained in detail. The 10 minute movie depicting the rigorous training of infantrymen was heartwarming. The Medal of Honor section was great. The entire museum made you proud to be an American. We were here on Thursday right after graduation so it was thrilling to see all the new infantrymen and their proud families. Graduations also take place on Friday mornings.
HINT; ALLOW AT LEAST 2-3 HOURS . WE COULD HAVE SPENT ALL DAY THERE.

My daughter and I were visiting my husband and we decided to go check out the museum. It was a great idea! My almost two year old daughter had so much fun. She loved looking around and especially the kids area. She dressed up like her daddy and laughed so much, she didn't want to leave at all! A great place to visit!!!!

This is a huge building with many fascinating displays. It can be overwhelming, so if your schedule allows, go back over two or three days so you can take it all in. Fun inter actives too including a "shooting range" that was worth paying extra for. Nice gift shop and restaurant too.
