“Excellent Barbecue!”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

This place is not fancy by any means but the food is good and that's what matters. I had the barbecue pork with three vegetables - a LOT of food and the barbecue was wonderful. No gristle, no fat; just really good food. Yes the vegetables are overcooked but that is the Southern way. The biscuits were light and fluffy and the hot corn muffins are to die for. Everyone is very friendly - in fact people switched to a smaller table so our party of five could sit together. The clientele is a great mix of businessmen in starched white shirts, families and workers in t-shirts. The cobbler desserts are excellent. You can't beat the price. Our party of five ate very well for $50.00!

“Indigenous restaurant with southern hospitality and great food.”
Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

We were in Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Bowl and used Tripadvisor to find a place to eat. Since it Jan 1, we called to see if they were open. I was told "Come see us Honey!" We headed off and quickly found the place. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Service was prompt and food was good. Not a great place, but no regrets for dining here.

“Great Meat and Vegetable Place”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

I have been eating here for years and the food is always consistent. You know it is a good place when you see the police and fire department cars from all the local agencies in the parking lot. I usually get the vegetable plate with 4 vegetables. I like that you can get free refills on the vegetables. It can get crowded at lunch time, but you normally don't have to wait long. The service is usually friendly and efficient.

“Disappointing...”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

I've heard great things about this place, but it was very disappointing. I had fried chicken, baked mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and collards greens. The greens were salty and overdone. The mac was watery mush with a dried blob of cheese on top, and the chicken was tasteless, Just a let down all around. The service was fine and the prices were cheap, but it was no bargain. I wouldn't return.

“Great BBQ...great vegetables...”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

This place ain't fancy...this place ain't some frilly fern restaurant...this is just good Southern cooking...with well-cooked vegetables, some tasty BBQ and sweet tea...

If you were expecting "al dente" vegetables, something encoated in panko bread crumbs or something you saw from some chic trendy New York restaurant on the Food Network, drive on by...this ain't it...

If you want some good vegetables, cornbread, country-fried steak, meatloaf or BBQ...then this is just the place.

My elementary school Facebook group from the 1950s and 1960s eat here every few months or so...the last time we were here in July, the BBQ smokehouse had just burned that morning, but the restaurant was still serving food and it was great!

We are looking forward to going back this Saturday for some more of that good ole Southern home-style cooking...
