Owner description: Reopening on the 8th of july The de Vogüé castle is part of the National Heritage that cannot be ignored in southern Ardeche. The origins of the castle, birthplace of the de Vogüé family, date back to the end on the 12th century. It still belongs to the de Vogüé family today and is run by the association Vivante Ardeche. Year after year the association has bet on developing an ambitious politics of valuing this historic heritage and programming each year two exhibitions of contemporary artists with high quality original work.

We visited the village in the morning, which is probably for the best since it's quite a hike (with two small kids) to the castle. We really enjoyed the made of narrow streets and alleys. Didn't enter the castle, but the outside looks really nice. We parked at the main road entering the village. You have a nice view of Vogüé and the bridges spanning the river. Good for a short visit!

It took about an hour to visit, including a 10 minute break in a pretty courtyard. Some rooms of Chateau de Vogue are devoted to displaying art exhibitions; other parts of the castle contain historical documents, paintings and photographs of the people who have owned the castle and title going back to the 12th century and going forward to include its current owner. This was fascinating place to visit.

The Chateau is on the bank of the Ardeche River and dominates the quaint village. It was built in the 13th and 15th century and redone in the 17th century. The hanging gardens are a must to see and give a great view of the village and surrounding mountains

A lovely tour of a town and chateau. It was fun to wander through the streets and see buildings that date back several centuries. Definitely worth the stroll.

If you are looking for a chateau full of furniture and antiques do not go to this one
It is historic, with a base in modern art.
A lovely small terrace garden which gives a super view of the valley and river.
No cafe
A children's quiz in French
Guide in English.
Cheap entrance fee
Not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or infirm.
Worth the ticket price
