First time we visited with our three year old son! We loved the hands own with the petty zoo! We live within a few miles of Chestatee wildlife and this place is 10 times better. They had several young ladies that welcomed us inside special exhibits. We just did the petting zoo today but we will be back to do the wildlife walk and camel exhibit.

The prices were ridicously confusing. Apparently everything is separate. The petting zoo itself is already overpriced and very small. About the size of a quarter football field. On top of that you have to buy food to feed the animals. And all the animals seem to be starving since they are pushing each other out of the way just to get a morsel of a pellet. We bought 2 large feeds and 2 medium feeds. The mediums were maybe 32 oz. The large were ~64 oz. and not even remotely filled to the top. The guy filling them even made sure to put some back maybe because he though he gave a pellet too much.

The one saving grace that required an extra fee was a guided tour. A volunteer at the zoo took you behind the petting zoo and showed some caged exotics. Then it ended with a show and tell with a hands on of some of the more hand sized tame animals. The volunteer was very personalbe and very nice. I would definitely not return to this place.

Oh, By the way. We found out that every animal minus the exotics were available for sale.

We planned the day at the zoo while camping at Vogel State Park. We drove a fair ammount which is normal for everything in that area. The whole area is quite remote and spread out. We had no cell phone reception and therefore no internet connection for our whole time there. We got out to the zoo and found out it was closed for the day. We already had a 40 minute drive to the zoo and another similar drive after getting to our second choice location. Wasted nearly two hours because of their sudden closing for a school tour group. I don't know if they posted this on their web stie but they should be aware not everyone can connect to the internet to know this info. I was very disappointed as were my 3 and 7 year we unloaded out of the car to hear this info. So take note before you head out......

Advertised price for petting zoo (mostly goats) only... everything else is extra... $111 for a family of 5! Ridiculous!

We drove 6 hours on our trip to Georgia to visit and weren't disappointed. The trip was a surprise early birthday for my youngest. The first day we did the Ultimate Wildlife Encounter where we interacted with porcupines, kangaroos, brushed the mountain lion (through the fence), the hawk, zebra, cavies, singing dog, and fed the bear cats. Then we spent about an hour with the baby animals. The next day we spent two hours with the wolves (Ultimate Wolf Encounter) - my youngest was in HEAVEN. We were able to interact with two wolves in their enclosure, and another out on his leash. Then we were able to play with the pups. I can't say enough about how terrific these two days were.

Amanda, Shawna, Melissa and Hope were wonderful and attentive. The animals are well-loved and cared for and the handlers knowledgeable. They were always safety conscious - making sure that my children were handling the animals appropriately.

To be fair, the encounters we did are expensive and we didn't do the other, smaller encounters they offer. If you are planning to go, I would call ahead of time to arrange to encounters that I wanted. We did pay the extra to have photos taken by staff - haven't seen the disks yet, so I can't comment on the quality. The zoo has a small gift shop with drinks, snacks, Tshirts and toys.

Overall, it was two terrific days. The kids can't wait to go back!
