These cabins were awesome! (Home away from home) Well equipped. Great location. We enjoyed water rafting, hiking and just some relaxing/cooking out. Would definately rather be here than a hotel anytime!! Thanks Frank for your hospitality. We pray God's blessings on you!

It was such a treat to stay at the Mountain Aire cottages. The room was clean, tidy and homey. We only stayed one night but I will stay there again when we come back to Clayton. We loved it! Thanks for having a great place to visit!

I might be old-fashioned but I feel that business and spiritual and political beliefs are best kept separate. I frankly don't want to know what religion or political party a business owner favors.
This was my experience at Mountain Aires: As I entered the office I could not help but notice a bible verse prominently displayed on the wall. I turned to the desk and saw a bible and then saw a picture of Jesus over the desk. The owner was not there when my husband and I arrived so we waited for him outside of the office. When the owner finally drove up I saw not one, but two political stickers from a past election conspicuously displayed on the back of his company truck.
All of this, combined with a mistake with our reservation so we didn't have our reserved room, was a bit much. The clincher was when the owner informed me that he couldn't have made a mistake. Actually...my husband and I were glad that there was no room at the inn... or there might have been room, but the owner was so intent on proving that he was right that I didn't hang around to find out.

We took the quiet old highway into Clayton and were surprised to see a nice looking motel under the flowering cherry trees. The Mountain Aire is just what we always hope for and so rarely find-- a quiet, affordable place to stay that's not on the WalMart strip. The owner himself greets you and was happy to take care of a couple of requests. The price was modest so we were able to get rooms with a connecting door to be more comfortable with my elderly mother along. You get all the things that make life easier-- fridge, microwave, nice linens, fun decor. Everything is up the hill away from the little-used old highway, so it's utterly quiet. You also get more well-behaved neighbors than the usual motels. In the morning we walked out our door and along some beautiful rural roads, and found the nearby weekend flea market for some local color and boiled peanuts. We were only sorry we had to leave the next day. I hope more people will do this-- find a motel from another era in an attractive location, and fix it up nicely for 21st century comfort.
