Words cannot describe the sheer delight we felt the first time we entered the Laurel Bar. Even better, after numerous visits, we still feel exactly the same way! The ambiance is lovely. Comfortable seating, candles flickering onto the ceiling and in the winter months, a fire in the stone fireplace, give the feeling you are sitting in a much loved room sharing good times with friends.
Outside, there is another seating area that offers the relaxing sound of a water feature in a shady spot created from a former kudzu covered alley.
The 'small plates' are each one more delicious than the other. Order a combination and have a bite of each because you will enjoy them all. The cheese plate is big enough for folks to share with drinks before the small plates arrive, so don't skip it.
Brenda and Chuck are the BEST hosts. They make you feel as if you have accepted an invitation to their personal home and make you feel welcomed the minute you step through the door. If you get really lucky (or plan well), you might be there on a Thursday evening when Sy Timmons drives down from Highlands to share his musical talents. This takes place twice a month in the warmer months, so check the website for dates.
All in all, one of the best bar/lounge experiences we have ever had and that is saying something!
Clayton is a small town in the best ways. The Laurel Bar is the best of the best in our little town, but could easily be located in an upscale metropolitan area.
