“Oh My Gosh! Better Than Buckhead!”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Words cannot describe the sheer delight we felt the first time we entered the Laurel Bar. Even better, after numerous visits, we still feel exactly the same way! The ambiance is lovely. Comfortable seating, candles flickering onto the ceiling and in the winter months, a fire in the stone fireplace, give the feeling you are sitting in a much loved room sharing good times with friends.
Outside, there is another seating area that offers the relaxing sound of a water feature in a shady spot created from a former kudzu covered alley.
The 'small plates' are each one more delicious than the other. Order a combination and have a bite of each because you will enjoy them all. The cheese plate is big enough for folks to share with drinks before the small plates arrive, so don't skip it.
Brenda and Chuck are the BEST hosts. They make you feel as if you have accepted an invitation to their personal home and make you feel welcomed the minute you step through the door. If you get really lucky (or plan well), you might be there on a Thursday evening when Sy Timmons drives down from Highlands to share his musical talents. This takes place twice a month in the warmer months, so check the website for dates.
All in all, one of the best bar/lounge experiences we have ever had and that is saying something!
Clayton is a small town in the best ways. The Laurel Bar is the best of the best in our little town, but could easily be located in an upscale metropolitan area.

Wow! I am humbled by your kind comments. We are thrilled you have such pleasant experiences when you come to our little tapas bar in the mountains. If you haven't been here since Memorial Day, we have our new summer menu in full swing. And this Saturday June 14th, we start serving lunch on Saturdays! Hope to see you at The Laurel Bar again soon. Warm regards, Brenda Patterson

“Beautiful bar”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Amazing craftsmanship in this bar, the decor' is wonderful. Small tables, sofas, etc- makes it cozy in the winter time. They've just added more seating in a back dining room and also opened an outdoor area. They're specialty cocktails are famous in Rabun and they offer a "small plates" menu that is perfect to go along with drinks. Romantic or fun- it can be either.

Thank you for noticing all of our hard work. When we designed The Laurel Bar, we wanted it to be a casually elegant, yet rustic and cozy spot where people would feel like they were at someone's home. We are so glad you enjoy yourselves when you come in. We hope to see you back soon to try our new summer menu and also many more amazing cocktails that our mixologist has created since you have been in. Thanks again. Warm regards, Brenda

“Mountain elegance”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

The Laurel Bar is a wonderful addition to this area. I live in Clayton and have been here a number of times, as it is a great place to meet up with friends and relax. The Bar area is welcoming and cozy, and the decor is beautiful! They serve excellent drinks and a good selection of tapas, all of which I have tried have been very tasty! Service has always been great. Brenda, the owner, has gone out of her way to create a comfortable, intimate setting, both inside and on the patio (when it's warm enough). If you want a cocktail and an appetizer or light dinner, I highly recommend The Laurel Bar.

“Best in Clayton!”
Reviewed November 6, 2013 via mobile

This mountain gem is one of our best experiences yet in the northeast Georgia mountains. They serve "tapas" dishes, (small plates), found in many metropolitan cities but not typically found in small towns. Starting with the warm welcome we received from Brenda, the owner, upon entering you will be amazed with the warm, inviting, cozy atmosphere. As for the fabulous menu, may I suggest you start with one of their specialty drinks. The ingredients are so fresh they could have been picked to order! As for the food, the bison sliders were excellent as were the crab cakes, fish tacos and baked brie we ordered. If you try no other restaurant in Clayton, make this the one !

Greetings from The Laurel Bar at The White Birch Inn. Thank you so much for all your sweet comments. I am pleased you noticed how fresh everything is. We actually pick our herbs daily from our garden on the patio, and all of our tapas ingredients are grown locally by nearby farmers. Can't get any fresher than that, right? I hope you come back soon to try our chef Ben's new summer menu which features local Blalock meats and in-house smoked freshly caught trout. Our bartender Ginger is amazing as well, as she comes up with new specialty drinks every day!! She utilizes fresh squeezed juices and fresh herbs and combines them with flavored vodkas and liqueurs to create, what we call, edible art! Let us know when you come in so we can meet you. Thanks again. Warm regards, Brenda and Chuck Patterson- owners
