just stayed at the Glen Ella Springs Inn for a biz trip.. loved loved loved it.
the food was delicious, Ann changed my mind about cheesy grits, I now love them, and her scones are delectable and sized perfectly. Ed and Lucy are as gracious as can be, ensuring everything was just so.. and it was so appreciated by this guest.
the grounds, the location, the quietness was perfect. what a nice change from the usual hotel/motel biz trips... highly recommend this B&B.

great place to visit. the property is wondereful and the sites near the property make this an ideal vacation destination. we visited the falls, tallulah gorge and the tiger mountain winery and had a great time at all three spots.

We found Glen-Ella Springs Inn through the military as they offer a Veteran's day special, but were booked. When trying to make that reservation, Ed was so exceptionally nice, that we went ahead and booked in November anyway. It could not have been a more pleasant and accommodating weekend. The food was excellent , the service superb, the visitor info for where we should bike was perfect, the rooms were warm, and cozy and the general ambiance was great. We met 3 other couples that we got along with wonderfully and really can not wait to go back and take our neighbors with us. Ed and Luci are so very nice and take their job as Inn Keepers to the highest degree. We Loved it!

Leaving the busyness of Atlanta blessedly behind us to celebrate our anniversary, my wife and I arrived in rural Clarkesville only 90 minutes later. We followed signs a couple of miles down a dirt/gravel road past some cows until the huge Glen Ella lawn appeared on our left (though well marked, I'd recommend doing this during daylight hours). A sign on the century and a half old entrance clued my wife and me for the first time that this is a Select Registry Inn, an honor bestowed upon a very few historic bed and breakfast establishments, which our experiences during the next two days would confirm, yet we were impressed more by the incomparable warmth and quality of people and services than with the facilities. The room was smallish though charming, the walls were thin enough to hear (though not clearly) conversations in adjacent rooms, and there was an autumn ladybug problem that the inn constantly does battle with in the fall by vacuuming up to three times daily (especially rooms on the ends of the building). We noticed that the peace and stillness of the surrounding natural setting, coupled with the thin walls and respect for the historic stature of the place and perhaps even the respect for the quality of services rendered has everyone walking softly and talking in hushed tones so as to preserve that ambiance.

We were greeted warmly at the front desk by Mariah, who walked us to our room and explained the lay of the land to us. A couple of hours later we were back for dinner, but sat down on the couch first to enjoy a a cozy fire that Mariah had built in the lobby firepace. After a memorable meal, we sat down again at the lobby fire, and she continued to expertly stoke as long as we were enjoying it. The following day we arose to a wonderful breakfast. We then drove three miles further up the gravel/dirt road alongside the cabins of lake Rabun to hike a short half mile to spectacular terraced Minnehaha falls, an impressive 60 foot drop. We then drove a few miles north on 441 to explore several overlooks of nearby Talllulah Gorge, including a suspension bridge 80 feet above the Gorge, which means climbing a lot of steps, but is highly recommended. Then back to the Inn for another world class meal. My wife loved the Habersham Scarlett wine so much with her salmon that we drove to that winery afterward for free tastings and some purchases.

In summary, the charm of these century-and-a-half old facilities includes a couple of minor idiosyncrasies, yet without exception, everyone we met at Glen Ella from the maid to the cook to the groundskeepers to the front desk personnel was warm, friendly and cared enough about their work to produce superb food, warm hospitality and unusually good service. And that is really what makes this place special.

My husband and I have celebrated every anniversary weekend at Glen-Ella for the past 12 years. It is my favorite place to read a book! The innkeepers are wonderful, and so warm and friendly. The food is delicious, the setting is so relaxing and serene. We would move in if we could!
