This was a quick one night escape to enjoy the crisp fall weather in the GA mountain with extended family also staying at the inn. The highlight of the weekend was a leisurely and wonderful dinner on the patio. The evening was cool, yet dry, so a light jacket was in order. Ed did light the propane heater later in the evening to keep the ladies warm.

The meal was excellent. We started with an assortment of appetizers, the crab cakes being well received by everyone. Then all had either a salad or soup followed by the main course. We had the fresh tuna, which was prepared perfectly, and the baked nut encrusted chicken breast, also an excellent selection. The side dishes were a selection of fresh, locally procured organic vegetables. After such a hearty meal, the dessert was shared, and I would suggest the key lime pie. The meal was accompanied by Georgia wines which Luci recommended. The wine was light and fit the meal and weather. Note, Glenn Ella is in a “dry” county, and thus limited on their wine selection to local Georgia wines. But this is soon to change as the county has recently voted for beer and wine sales.

After dinner we enjoyed family fellowship in our ample and well appointed guest room. The iPod was placed in the player to provide some soft background, and we were able to enjoy the newly upholstered chairs and sofa in the room. We retired to bed early (there is no TV in the room, thank goodness) for a relaxing night’s sleep.

On Sunday morning we met in the dining room for a family breakfast. Ed prepared pancakes to order with a choice of apple cinnamon or fresh blueberry topped with real maple syrup . Our party was about evenly split on which was best, a decision that required multiple trips to the griddle for additional samples.

The one thing I would do different is book an additional night for the next weekend escape. It would have been nice to have more time to enjoy the local area with some short hikes. As it was we spent Saturday afternoon at the antique mall in Clarksville (which has the largest selection of the “FOR DUMMIES” series of books that I have ever seen.)

Overall, an enjoyable and leisurely getaway made possible by the Inn owners Ed and Luci. I would highly recommend the Glenn Ella Springs Inn experience.

I am absolutely in love with Glen Ella and its staff!!!

My husband and I got married at Glen Ella, April 17, 2010 and it could not have been a more perfect day. Luci and Ed (the inn keepers) made sure everything went just as planned and really exceeded our expectations. We rented out the entire bed and breakfast for our wedding weekend which made for a very intimate occassion. We had the ceremony in the lower garden, cocktail hour around the pool, and the reception in the pavilion. Everything looked amazing...mainly because Glen Ella takes such good care of their gardens all year long. 130 people attended our wedding and there was plenty of room for dancing and mingling in the pavilion. Ed and Luci made sure we were able to relax the entire weekend and took care of everything for us. We were able to spend time with our family and friends hiking, around the bonfire, and playing games in the field without worrying about all of the final details of our wedding. We were so impressed with Luci and Ed during the planning process that we even had our Rehearsal Dinner and Bridesmaid luncheon here.

We had a buffet dinner for our reception and the food was delicious! We missed the appetizers during the cocktail hour due to pictures but when we arrived at the reception Luci had made us a plate of all of the appetizers and they were delicious too. Luci and Sherry (our wedding director and florist) made sure we had everything we needed during the reception- our wine glasses were never empty. Little things like this really made us feel special. We never felt like we were just another wedding at Glen Ella which made all the difference in the world.

All of the other reviews are true! You really feel like family when you are here.

If you are thinking about having your wedding at Glen Ella I highly recommend it! My husband and I had an amazing wedding weekend and it is all because of Ed, Luci, and the staff at Glen Ella!

The grounds of the inn were absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I enjoyed "communing with nature" by strolling in the garden, grassy fields, and along the creek. The room was pretty and quaint, but the walls were very thin and every sound could be heard throughout the night. The inn has a "no noises after 10" policy but it didn't seem to be enforced. The bed slept wonderfully and I got the best night's sleep in a while. The sheets are very luxurious and the pillows are of high quality feathers.

We ate in the inn's restaurant both nights. The first night, we felt the entrees were overpriced at an average of $25 each. The second night, we ordered a la carte and were more pleased with our food and the value. The service was impeccable the entire time we were there. We recommend this inn if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax with no TV and no cell service. We also drove to see nearby Tallulah Gorge and shopped and ate lunch in Clarkesville, both of which we recommend as well. On a side note, The Attic in Clarkesville had the best burger we've ever eaten!

Easy to find, located on a private 17 acre estate within a hollow not far from Tallulah Gorge and Lake Rabun, Glen-Ella offers historic preservation, great cuisine and quiet comfort for individuals, couples and groups looking for a destination or interim stop in the Georgia high country. Ed & Luci Kivett + Staff make the most of your stay by offering a place to unwind. My wife and I found Glen-Ella via Map Quest as part of a planned trip to Mt Leconte, Tenn. We were looking for an economical, easily accessible interim stop a day in advance of the hiking adventure in the Great Smokies National Park given a lengthy drive from our home. Glen-Ella was more than economical and easily accessible as we were welcomed upon our arrival at 7 pm with a great dinner as well as good conversation with the Ed, Luci & the Staff + other patrons. The room accomodations were first class as well. It's now our designated first stop on future trips to the high country in Georgia/NC/Tenn. You are missing a treat if you drive along Hwy 441 and do not make a visit.

This was our second time returning to Glen-Ella Springs. We boiled down our experience to one word "Perfect". First, the hospitality of the staff and of the Inn Keepers made us feel like family. They went above and beyond in making our stay absolutely wonderful. The restaurant was excellent, the service and quality of food was 5 stars. We recommend the succulent lamb and the steak. Plus, the restaurant accommodated our daughter's celiac disease and gluten free requirements.

The property itself was pristine. There is nothing like waking up in the morning feasting on a great breakfast on the deck. All the while, watching the deer play in the meadow, the beautiful hummingbirds feeding in the gorgeous gardens and a big lazy cat basking in the sun.

The inn is located near three clean lakes . We rented a pontoon boat and spent the day swimming, water tubing and fishing. It was good bonding time with our family. The rest of our stay was exploring little antique shops near by, zip lining, and horseback riding. By the way, all the activities were setup by the inn.

All in all, we would recommend the Inn and we've promised ourselves to return at least once a year.
