Owner description: Mark Of The Potter is the oldest craft shop in the same location in Georgia. For 44 years now we have endeavored to provide the best functional stoneware by our own potters and specially selected potters from around the southeast and U.S.A. We are located on the Scenic 197 Moonshine Highway 10 miles north of Clarkesville, Georgia. Come visit us and then write a review. We appreciate hearing what our customers like and what we could do to improve our shop.

Beautiful pottery and demos. Excellent view of the Soque River. Trout feeding in the right weather. Not too, too far from Glen Ella and a beautiful drive.

This place is so incredible!! Much of the pottery is local, but not all of it; however, the staff is happy to tell you anything you'd like to know about all that they have here. The mill is so neat, with a "waterfall" in the basement where the mill was once worked. The side balcony overlooks the river, and you can spend a quarter to feed the trout....some of them are huge! Anytime we are traveling this way, we have to stop here! It is just a one of a kind location!

This place was the highlight of my trip to Helen. It stands out in my mind so vividly. The pottery was absolutely beautiful. The mill was so interesting, and the river was just so perfectly picturesque. I just loved everything about this place and can not wait until I have the opportunity to go back. I came home w/ a pretty little dogwood sugar and creamer set, and I just love it!

After a nice drive from Helen or Clarkesville, this charming road-side establishment is full of beautiful pottery. Not all the pottery is from local artists but the staff will be more than happy to tell you all about the potters. Many of them are local and if you are lucky you can catch one of them in their craft in the store. The backdrop is great as well, it sits right on a quaint river.
