“Great vacation”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

My wife and stayed in the Raccoon lodge for a week in early June 2012 and really enjoyed the stay. The house was nice and very comfortable and the views from the decks where Million dollar! We could only see one house and one light at night and that was several miles away. The way the cabins are laid out you can't see the other cabins on the property and only occasionally hear your neighbors. The internet did not work initially but the very nice office folks helped us have it going in a few minutes. Our Verizon cell phones did not work on the property but the house phone worked fine. We did see a few of the hornets that other people reported but they did not bother us. Now the driveway was something else. We where driving a Ford F150 crew cab with four wheel drive. The drive was definitely steep and mostly gravel covered but wide enough so that we never felt like we where to close to the edge and where going to fall off. We never needed the four wheel drive. I would not bring a car that was low to the ground like my wife's Volkswagen rabbit. We would recomend the Raccoon lodge
June is when the wild flowers are blooming and we had a great time hiking and seeing them.

My husband and I stayed at Laurel's Rest Cabin. We had a quiet, romantic, relaxing time, but the road to get to the cabin was nail biting! It was so bad in my opinion that once we got to our cabin we NEVER left. Be prepared with enough food etc to last the weekend if you don't like steep, curvy roads. With all of that said, the cabin was set up very nice and was in a peaceful location. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and the hot tub. We even got out and hiked a little, but keep in mind the road is steep. I would recommend the cabin as long as the drive to get there does not bother you.

Adrian, Jane, and William stayed at the Coyote Bluff Cabin from December 26-30, 2011. The following points are submitted as feedback on our cabin mini-vacation:

o The view from Fort Mountain was wonderful. It was beautiful to view the mountains in the morning while drinking coffee and reading. This was the most positive part of our visit.
o The check-in experience with the friendly atmosphere was very welcoming.
o Ellijay and many of the surrounding towns were wonderful to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed this part of our holiday.
o The access road to Coyote Bluff was horrible; we did not see any pictures of this road on your website. I understand why.
o The wireless Wi-Fi service never worked. You were kind enough to make the necessary telephone call so that the provider would at least talk with me in order to get the modem operational. I had to hardwire this directly to the laptop computer which meant all of my work had to be completed in front of the dishwasher. This telephone discussion with the representative took almost two hours. This was certainly not the best situation for what was described as a luxury cabin. Even with the vendor’s assistance, the wireless router did not work. Since this was a working holiday, this caused me many problems. The written and verbal references to Wi-Fi were one of the reasons we decided to rent this cabin.
o We were not told until we arrived that there was no wireless telephone service available at our cabin. Potential guests need to be told this in advance. This is a disaster for a working vacation.
o The cabin had not been thoroughly cleaned. Children’s handprints were on the windows facing the mountain.
o Two light bulbs needed replacement, and we finally figured out that we had to screw the floodlight bulbs in for outside service by the front door. Again, rather unique for a luxury cabin.
o The refrigeration sounds as if it is going to be a maintenance problem shortly. The shrill scream when the compressor starts is a startling experience.
o The roaches in the bathroom are part of the wilderness experience but not expected in a luxury cabin.
o The bed mattress in the master bedroom is nicely described as cheap. The rotting master bedroom chair, which could not be used, did not enhance the appearance of the room.

We understand that websites are only intended to emphasize the best features, at some point the reality of the advertised product becomes apparent. While Coyote Bluff Cabin is beautiful, it is hardly worth the price of the advertised luxury cabin. Even with the positives, we will not recommend Wilderness View Cabin to our Florida friends nor will we return.

Stayed in their big cabin, Grandview and had a wonderful time. Not only were we able to get some work done, but we relaxed too! Between the pool table, the fire pit and the hot tub we all had a nice time.

It was so quiet and peaceful; so different then the hustle and bustle of the city. I think we did more work there then at the office! We can't wait to go back!
