“A must see! ”
Review of Cohutta Overlook

Reviewed November 3, 2015 via mobile

If you are on your way to Fort Mountain State Park, this is a must see stop! This is an overlook on the right side of the road and you can zoom right past it if you aren't keeping an eye out. There is a good little hike (we made in less than 5 minutes) to the top but once you are there, there are 180 degree breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains you aren't able to see on your drive up the mountain. Just incredible. There is also a small tower/hut once you are up there too. As we were told by a park ranger, that is an air quality monitoring station. Which, by-the-way, the air up there is top grade. So, take a deep clean breath in, relax and enjoy the view!

There are several overlooks on fort mt. The two on the north side is overgrown and you can't see. The USFS should keep it up. The ones in the south has a wonderful view of the Mts.

I am referring to the overlook west of the former Cohutta Lodge towards Chatsworth.

I don't know about the overlook east of the former Cohutta Lodge, towards Ellijay.
