Find your way to the other side of the tracks in Chamblee- 5394 Peachtree Road, Chamblee, GA

There is much ado about something in Chamblee as Southbound makes its debut with its smashing, creative gourmet entrees. Where can one find fried rabbit livers, pickled red onion, frisée, charred lemon, sunny side quail egg? SOUTHBOUND! From fried green tomatoes to Crispy Kale and Grain Salad, nothing is lacking in providing a unique, fresh, palatable dining experience not soon forgotten. Whether it’s chugging Stillwater Love & Regret on draft or sipping 1990 Cabernet Franc, Olga Raffault Chinon “Les Picasses, ‘ of France. Southbound ambiance persuades one to linger whether lost in after dinner conversations, tours of the intriguing two story restaurant where history surely hides in the walls and owners and staff greet you with friendly service and welcoming spirits. With its exposed brick, original wood, antique windows and a full authentic bar shipped from The Peabody Hotel, Memphis, Southbound does not disappoint. Only crisp white tablecloths could add to the beautiful formal decor and dining experience, while the relaxed and friendly professional service lends to a warming spirit of informality making for a perfect evening of romance, family outings, meeting friends, or Friday night gathering rituals. The integrity of the quality food shines from fresh herbs to a creative, and surprising, menu. One visit will quickly make your repeat restaurant list. Reservations are a must as many Atlantans have already discovered a truly unique dining experience.

High marks for the interior design ... wide plank wood floors, wooden ceiling, table tops, a great long & roomy bar ... all-in-all, a well done "restoration" of an old building that should make this place instantly popular - if you can find it among the maze of Peachtrees (PIB, New Peachtree, Peachtree, whatever, use the GPS). Parking might be tight at busy times.

Food (at lunch) was well-received. The Grouper BLT especially. The pulled pork was lackluster; not much flavor. Good sides. Fries are nice. Service was a tad slow.

BTW - at least in summer, avoid baking on the uncovered patio. Unless your a train-spotter as it's hard by the N&S freight tracks.

This was our first time at southbound; we will be back soon! The beef shortrib off of the big green egg fell off the bone and was delicious. My girlfriend got the grouper which was equally as good. Atmosphere inside and at the bar area is very nice and rustic in feel. This is a great date spot or a great place for drinks. Only constructive criticism suggestion would be to perhaps add one glass of wine both red and white in the 6-9 dollar/ glass range. Overall it is awesome and we will be back!

A friend took me to dinner there and I was blown away. Great bar atmosphere and everything was not good but excellent, including the service. Superior service in a very professional atmosphere. Super fun design inside and outside seating. Had the smoked beef rib. It's big enough for two. I liked the place so much, I came back the next day to try lunch.

In the old downtown area is a restaurant with new eclectic southern cuisine. Each dish is uniquely prepared lending itself to a pleasant surprise. The meats are smoked in a Big Green Egg daily, great smell on the patio! I had the short rib that fell off the bone and my date had the rabbit & dumplings, which I kept hearing mmmmmm after every bite! Service is excellent, the restaurant has beautiful original old brick walls and restored wood beams though out. Downstairs is dining, patio, and bar, Upstairs for larger groups, and even a veranda for more outdoor dining. Entrance is in the back where the parking is located. Will definitely go back soon!
