We are now trying to arrange our trip home from Florida to include a stay at a Microtel hotel whenever we can. This year, we stayed at the one in Brunswick North , Brunswick, Ga. Great staff, clean rooms and love the sheet covered feather comforters rather than those horrible dirty bedspreads you find in so many motels. The rooms are always the same with this chain. Consistency, friendliness and cleanliness. What more could you want in an overnight stay?

We stayed one night on May 1, 2012 enroute to Savannah. The welcome lemonade upon arrival was a nice touch. Our first floor room was spotlessly clean and looked out on a pleasant grassy area. Free long distance calls was appreciated. Breakfast was all we could want, even fresh fruit. The waffle maker separated the waffle into 4 cute quarter sized sections which I suppose cooked them faster. Quite fun!

- Unable to check us in earlier than 3 pm. I pay for one nights stay and I only get to stay from 3 pm until 11 am? I thought that was ridiculous, but most all hotels are like that now.

+ Great Rates!

+ Room looked exactly as described in picture on website. I like that I knew what to expect. No surprises.

-/+ Beds were hard, but the bedding was very soft. I found a few stains on the bedding also.

- Room was very small and cramped.

- No ironing board or iron in the room.

+ Loved the window seat.

+ Loved having a room on the first floor.

+ Loved the mirrors above the beds.

- Pool was very small and only 4 1/2 feet deep and was dirty and the railing going into the pool was loose. However, they did have someone working on these issues while we were swimming in the pool.

+/- Free Coffee and fresh Lemonade, Nachos and Cookies at Social Hour and Free Hot Breakfast was great. However, the cups for the lemonade were very small and they did not put out near enough cookies or breakfast for the amount of people staying there and the line for breakfast was way too long because they only had one waffle maker and the eggs were powdered and tasted awful. We ended up going somewhere else to eat for breakfast, but the fresh lemonade, nachos and cookies were delicious!

+ We had little interaction with the staff, but what we did they were friendly and helpful.

+ We felt very safe with the doors to the rooms being on the inside and that you had to have a key to enter the exits.

Room Tip: Request an iron and ironing board prior to check in because it won't be in your room otherwise.

We do at least two round trips between Maryland and Florida per year plus additional trips during the summer. We have stayed in all sorts of motels, some great and some not so great. The Microtel at Exit 38, Brunswick, GA is one of the better ones which we would highly recommend. It lived up to all the comments which were made for stays in April 2012. We found no problems with our stay. Our room was exactly what we had reserved. Never got the free breakfast since it stops at 9AM and we are late risers. The room was spotless, TV and WiFi reception was excellent. There were no negatives about this stay and when we return to FL in OCT we will definitely stay at this motel again. Also the motels at Exit 38 are far better in general then those at Exit 36 which is where we have stayed before. It appears that those at Exit 38 are newer properties.

There was one big negative with our stay. Microtel Inns belong to the Wyndham Rewards program which rewards points for each stay which can later be converted to a free nights stay. We had booked this Microtel room through the Wyndham Rewards website which requires along with entering all the normal information there is a line for entering your Wyndham Rewards membership number. So after entering all this information we expected to receive the appropriate reward points. The disappointment came at check-in when on asking the clerk to check if we received our points, she told us our account was inactive and I would have to call the Wyndham Rewards program to resolve this problem. But then in the morning checking with another desk clerk we were told that the room rate we got did not qualify to receive the reward points.

Now this is all very strange for when we booked this Microtel room we also booked a room using the same booking procedures at a Super 8 motel, which also is affiliated with the Wyndham rewards program. When we check-in at the Super 8 in Smithfield, NC the desk clerk there had no problem in bringing up my Wyndham Rewards membership and confirmed that we had been given the appropriate number of points.

The problem at the Microtel is a disappointment for us since we have been a member of the Wyndham Rewards program for a considerable number of years and book rooms with Wyndham affiliated hotels/motels exclusively. If this program is going to renege on rewarding point due, then why would we want to continue our membership?

Room Tip: Motel is far enough off the road so that road noise is not a problem regardless of room location...

We stayed at this hotel, along with 10 others, during April 2012 as part of a 17 day road trip across GA, NC, SC. By giving the star rating I am not saying the hotel is a 3 star but whether it was clean and value for the money and to an extent we have compared then to the other 10 hotels we stayed at.

Unlike some others this Microtel Inn was more like a traditional hotel were you park as near the reception as possible and take your luggage through the reception to a lift to your room. This felt much safer to us than the motel types were your room door is accessible to all from the street.

On arrival we were allocated a one queen bedded room when we had booked a two queen bedded room. The reception stated that we had not booked that room and after showing the email confirmation we were told that there were no two bedded rooms available. Only after requesting that the booking be cancelled and we would stay elsewhere did a room (321) suddenly become available. There was much confusion at reception with other guests having missed bookings and wrong rates.

Things then went well until the next day when returning from a day out the lift was out of order and we had to walk up three flights of stairs only to find our room key card was also not working and we had to walk back down to reception and then back up again

The original room offered was described as an "upgrade to a suite" but it was a just a one bedded queen with a settee squeezed in. The 2 bedded room was much better. Clean towels and variable hot water. Sometimes the hot water went cold while having a shower

The included breakfast was pretty much the usual stuff with limited space. When we first went down to breakfast there were no spare seats.

At about £60 per night this was not one of the better hotels that we stayed at, best described as adequate but would not stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to write a review for our hotel. I apologize that your experience was anything less than satisfying. Our goal is to not only meet the needs of each and every guest we serve, but to exceed your expectations to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. As far as the elevator problems, one of our guests slammed a heavy piece of luggage (by mistake) directly onto one of the door sensors. The elevator has been working like new ever since the door sensor was replaced. A Totally new management team with new front desk agents has come in and have made the hotel much, much better... The breakfast is now a 25 item hot Breakfast Buffet that features Sausage, Eggs & French Toast. Next time you are in the area we invite you to stop by and help yourself to our 25 hour citrus center & coffee bar. Also, if you have a sweet tooth be sure to come down at 6:00 PM to treat yourself to our ALL NEW "Fresh baked Otis Spunkmeyer® Cookies. Every room now has Bedside candy waiting for you. We hope you give us a chance to show you all the "Upgrades" that have been added into this southern gem property !

Hope to see Y'all soon!

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. Very affordable; less than 50$/night including tax. Plus they allow pets, with a charge of 15$/night, which isn't bad for the area. Free breakfast was good -sausage patties, Belgium waffle maker, and the usual continental breakfast choices. The hotel offers free cookies (warm and delicious) at 6pm every night, and a nacho social at 6:30. Didn't use the outdoor pool, but it looked nIce. The hotel was conveniently located right off of hwy 95, and an easy drive to Jekyll Island and St. Simons. About a mile from Walmart & Target. Overall a great hotel for the price. Kayon, the receptionist, was very friendly and helpful. K.N. 5/2-5/3 2012

"They say it takes a village to raise a child" But, recently when I stayed at the Microtel at exit 38 in Brunswick, Ga. I met one person who makes a Motel! "Ben" at the front desk! And, he was a yankee!! However - he made my trip and my 3 day stay one of the best. He was busy making and helping with the breakfast when I first saw him in the mornings - He greeted us with a "real" good morning - how are you??? Are you having a good stay? Do you need anything" what are you all doing today? And, he took time to listen!!! Each time that my cousin and I saw Ben - he was always the same - friendly and nice. It was like he knew us and we him for a long time. The last morning Ben said, now who will I have to talk to in the morning when you all are gone home? Now that is good! So was the Motel - clean and comfortable and well managed. CPF 4-18 - 4-20 2012
