“Tin Horse Hwy”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

We had a lovely journey looking at all the creative Tin horses along the way. I understand that originally they were only on the hwy east of Kulin; but now friendly rivalry between East and West has started, with farmers west of Kulin getting creative too ..look out for the "West Kulin Whoppa".
Sure it made our journey to Esperance longer and less direct but it was fun. It would also be great if you had kids in the car.
We were in Kulin at lunch time and had a nice snack and coffee at a cafe inside the Mitre 10 store...the clue was all the locals coming out with takeaway coffees, etc. Very friendly staff and very clean.

On a drive through the Wheatbelt. Good fun to look at all the different horse sculptures! Breaks up the journey with something to look at.

“20kms of very imaginative and skillfully made Tin Horses ....”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

We had been visiting Hyden and the Wave Rock on our way from Kalgoorlie to Perth and detoured to see this highway at Kulin. Kulin itself is very pretty, but this highway is incredible and well worth visiting especially with camera at the ready. What started out as a bit of fun soon became a competition between East and West Kulin for the most imaginative and skillfully made "horse", and all made from drums and odd bits and pieces from the farm workshops. Most are by the side of the road but a few are in paddocks or tucked away so you really need to keep your eyes open ... all of which adds to the fun of this highway.

“A little bit of fun on an otherwise boring and tedious drive.”
Reviewed September 19, 2012 via mobile

If you are driving from Esperance to Perth in a fairly direct line then you will probably pass between Kulin and Corrigin. Along this stretch of road is an artistic little gem called the Tin Horse Highway which runs for about 15 - 20km. Along the road in the paddocks are statues and parodies of horses made from scrap steel, drums, car parts etc in various stances or just doing things horses normally don't do (in front of humans). It's a welcome break along this stretch of road and worth slowing down and occasionally pulling over to admire the artistic ability of the local community.
The drive from Perth to Corrigin/Kulin is quite enjoyable and will take you past the Corrigin Dog cemetery which is a small site worth visiting if you are a dog person.
