Owner description: A great family adventure on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway (BRSR) starts at the historic depot, built in 1905, in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. This charming mountain village is nestled in the lush Chattahoochee National Forest and is known for it’s pleasant and unique shopping with friendly folks and an old-time atmosphere. Total excursion is 26 miles (4 hours round-trip) winding along the beautiful Toccoa River in passenger’s choice of vintage, climate controlled rail cars or open-air rail cars arriving in the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee. Passengers have a 2 hour layover in McCaysville/Copperhill; plenty of time to eat lunch, shop for unique crafts and antiques, snack on ice cream, or walk across the old bridge in town to view the river.

I was expecting to see more, and the trip was long! it was comfortable, but a bit of a rip off at 35.00 a ticket.

This is a great way to spend a day viewing the northern part of Georgia. The train takes a leisurely round trip from Blue Ridge, GA to McCaysville, TN. The stop in McCaysville gives you plenty of time to get a nice lunch and do some shopping. The personnel on board point out interesting sights along the way and can answer questions about the trip.

Nostalgic and tiring. The entire experience is rather quaint. Anticipation and excitement filled the ride into Tennessee. Motion sickness and fatigue were the hallmarks of the trip back. The open car experience is a little overrated. Overall, it's a good venue for spending time with the family. No significant sightseeing value.

Lovely trip from Blue Ridge along the Toccoa river. Good for a day trip especially for families with children.
Don't expect adventure and excitement though. The train runs at a slow pace - kind of takes you some 50 years back in time.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Not much to do or visit in McCaysville...Some restaurants and gift stores.

Thank Magdalena C

This is an awesome day outing, especially in the Fall when the weather is perfect and the leaves are changing. It's a good activity to do solo, as a couple or with the family.
