Owner description: A great family adventure on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway (BRSR) starts at the historic depot, built in 1905, in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. This charming mountain village is nestled in the lush Chattahoochee National Forest and is known for it’s pleasant and unique shopping with friendly folks and an old-time atmosphere. Total excursion is 26 miles (4 hours round-trip) winding along the beautiful Toccoa River in passenger’s choice of vintage, climate controlled rail cars or open-air rail cars arriving in the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee. Passengers have a 2 hour layover in McCaysville/Copperhill; plenty of time to eat lunch, shop for unique crafts and antiques, snack on ice cream, or walk across the old bridge in town to view the river.

We had a fantastic time on this trip. The colors were wonderful and our guide was very informative and funny. My 6 year old niece had a wonderful time and loved meeting the conductor.

It was raining... they apologized... but no one had control. Still, the trip and the folks on the train were awesome. Our car "sponsor" or "guide" or whatever they called him was informed and funny! They had snacks, hot chocolate, coffee, etc. and the prices were less than one would expect since they had a captive crowd. We had our Son, Daughter-In-Law and 2 Granddaughters with us... and the 6 of us had fun... even in the rain. I am a train buff, so anything that has to do with trains is a highlight for me, but even if you're not, the trip is recommended.

I dont know that we would do this more than once, it was worthwhile to go and say we have been there. The sad little town that the train stops in TN before the return trip is a tourist trap and not very friendly to the only business they have coming to the town. We couldnt wait to get back on the train and get out of that town.

I have wanted to take this little trip often, but never had enough time allotted. Having our three-year-old granddaughter along this trip changed all that, we MADE it happen. We all enjoyed our time both on and off the train. The man who stayed in our car passing along general information was informative, friendly and entertaining. Our granddaughter was happily engaged either listening or looking the entire time. I don't know that it is usual, but there was even a man who went from car to car with a guitar and sang. I would recommend everyone should do this at least once.
