“Beautiful”

Beautiful park. This has many things to do. Hiking to a beautiful water fall, a little water area where you can rent paddle boats and such. Beautiful place to relax and spend time with the family. We went to a Fishing Rodeo that was put on by the Volunteers of the park. They gave out free t-shirts, bait and fishing poles to use ( you could bring your own fishing supplies). They gave out a ton of prizes. It took over an hour to call out the number and give out all the prizes. They were going at a fast pace, there were just a lot of prizes. The kids had fun. Afterward we went over to the beach and let the kids play in the water where they had an excellent time. Rangers all present and willing to help people that needed any type of help or had questions about the park. Love this place!

I've been coming here since I was a child and can't wait to go back every year. We stayed in the walk in tent sites right on the creek. It's so nice to hear the rushing creek at night. There were alot of bugs in May, so I would suggest bringing a screen room so you can eat outside. No bears this year, but they were spotted in the campground. This park is centrally located to several waterfalls, and places to visit.

Came to Vogel for the weekend to tent camp. I absolutely loved this park. The site, 83, was great. Not too close to other sites, but expected to be near some others. Bathrooms were very clean, could use an update, but clean! Hiking trails were good and there were alot of activities all within walking distance for kids. Seems like a great family environment. Staff was friendly and the store had some neat things. Our map was left for us on the door since we were a late arrival and it was very self explanatory. Great place to stay! I'm a campground owners daughter and I would recommend Vogel to anyone! :) lots of restaurants close by as well for those non campfire cookers/grillers. But beware, they have funky hours and close early.

Every year for 13 years we went to Vogel for our vacation. My boys grew up there. It is the best State Park in GA! My son now take his family there camping. The new Superintendent is not up to snuff yet but he's young and has a lot to learn. Needs to work on his people skills. The "old" staff and the Camp Hosts can 't be beat though.

Have camped or cottaged at Vogel State Park for about 30 years. Wonderful family place. The Christmas Tree Lighting was wonderful and Christ based. Thank you for this wonderful night. Looking forward to next year.

We are Florida residents who love to camp, found Vogel State Park and decided for a north GA adventure for our Thanksgiving. We camped in a 30ft TT and listened to the prior posts on getting to Vogel the long way around (go through Blue Ridge and Blairsville-575 if coming from the south like us-keeps you away from the mountain switchbacks). This GA park is a first come-first serve site selection, after a little research I knew that I wanted a site next to Wolf Creek, we found site 50 (it's in the back section) it was a perfect site! Prior posters said that it was difficult getting in, I must agree that you must know what you are doing on some sites (bring lots of wheel chalks…it's on the side of a mountain). I would also not encourage trying to get into this park at night…again…its on the side of a mountain. We found our site to be very level, wonderfully situated next to Wolf Creek, and with plenty of room for our family. Sites are located under a mature mountain pine forest, it's very open under the canopy. The park store was full of anything a camper forgot or could need (like gloves and winter hats…more on this later) at very reasonable prices. The park was well kept, going under some construction around the lake facilities, and all park workers were warm and helpful (even came with a blowtorch to thaw our water supply…more on this later). Be prepared for a very cold stay (lowest was 19 degrees) if going this time of the year (our neighbors said this was a bit uncommon) it even snowed on us for an entire day, almost a bit too cold to enjoy our outside amenities (and our waterlines froze)…very cold. Overall…a wonderful trip, great state park and I look forward to going back to Vogel and the north GA mountains again! Didn't give a perfect score due to some minor restroom updates needed (at least they were heated) and park construction….Highly recommend for a fun family vacation.

Room Tip: Get to this park early to get a good spot, talk up the park workers…they have great information

Beautiful and very clean location. Campsites are a little close together but lots of sites to pick from. Most sites are shady which would make for a great place in the summertime. Only negative was the speed in which cars come thru the campground. Seemed like people were flying thru this area. Maybe some speed bumps would help because the signs are not working. Cottages looked well kept and spacious. Park offers paddleboats, kayaks, putt-putt, trails, playgrounds, bike rentals, CCC museum, small beach area, and an amphitheater.
