“Genuine family-run fish taverna in Faros”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

No non-sense food, fresh fish according to the catch of the day by George, the father, a fisherman going out to the sea every day before dawn. Crisp-fresh salads, succulent starters, an efficient wine menu including affordable house-wine. Honest and friendly service by the whole family, Flora and the youngsters, Isavella and Petros, as well as the granny. Absolute cleanliness everywhere. Most important: the taverna has kept its high standard through the years since launch.

“Best place for fish in Sifnos”
Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

Absolutely amazing fish taverna in the picturesque Faros beach. Fish is as fresh as it can get and the rest of the food is also excellent including dessert. Not the cheapest fish taverna but reasonable for the quality.

“Gem of a Restaurant”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

This is a gem of a family run restaurant on Faros beach. Pappa is a fisherman and brings home the daily catch. Most of it goes to market but they save some for their cafe on the beach. Patrons are escorted to the fridge drawers to choose the fish they would like for dinner. Then it is prepared in the kitchen or on the grill. Flora (the owner) speaks good English as do her children who serve the tables. She is charming and welcoming. We had great food and a delightful visit with this family. they even gave us a complimentary dessert which was delicious.

Highly recommended

“The freshest seafood on the island and the friendliest family owners”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

I discovered this jewel of a restaurant because my Greek friend, who has a house on the island, told me that the owner is a fisherman who supplies the entire island, and it's restaurants, with fish. He and I had 24 hours together on the island and this is the only seafood place he would take me to.

George, the father of the family, showed us a cooler drawer of his day's catch and we picked several of the beautiful, local fish and lobster. Each day's catch determines the menu. You eat fish that is caught that day. That is it! You can have fish grilled, boiled, in soup( made with fresh Scorpian fish, which is extremely hard to find), fried, with pasta, (try the lobster with pasta. Its amazing!) or however else you would want it. We had fish dry grilled, a common and traditional method and the lobster boiled.

The side dishes were fantastic. We had an array of roasted vegetables, a local, raw vegetable and fresh mozzarella salad, grilled octopus, fresh shrimp with an ouzo cream sauce, a delicious locally made feta with fresh thyme from the surrounding hills, sprinkled on it, and the most amazing local fish ever. I have discovered Red Mullet and have determined it to be my favorite fish in Greece. Theirs was the best!

For dessert we had a lovely pana cotta with caramel sauce, local pastries and fantastic Greek coffee.

This memorable meal was eaten on a beautiful, clean patio surrounded by shade trees, a lovely awning and the peaceful, quiet bay of faros. The fishing boat that George uses to catch fish each morning is just a few feet away from the pretty, turquoise and white decor of his home (upstairs) and restaurant. This is a must-do on this island.

The family that owns this restaurant, George, his wife Flora, daughter Isabella, son Petros and grandma Stella, are kind, pleasant and attentive. This restaurant is their life and they have reason to be proud.
