My date and I arrived at "The Pig" unannounced on a busy Friday evening. The dinner crowd was in full swing and it was looking like we were out of luck for a table. We valeted the car (complimentary) and proceeded anyway. We got to the door and were seated, to our surprise, almost immediately. We had to sit at the bar near the kitchen because all the tables were taken. We were beginning to think we had made a bad choice. But we got to our seats and ordered each ordered a drink. The cocktails are all handmade with a variety of unique ingredients. (If you like a good whiskey try the umatilla smash.) We then began to see the variety and SIZE of the disshes being passed through the kitchen window. We were mesmerized by the view we were afforded. We saw the kitchen bustling with sous chefs and line cooks working in unison all under the attentive eye of the head chef who was carefully garnishing and checking over each dish as it was presented to the servers for final delivery. We were able to "scout" certain dishes we thought we would like as they came out fresh so we would ask our server "what was that" and he'd give us the dish overview. We decided on sharing the pork porterhouse. An enourmous cut of pork that was smoked and brined then seared to perfection. We threw in some of their truffle fries and a veggie side and what a meal! The entire experience was perfect. I would defnitely reccomend this place to anyone looking for a one of a kind experience. I gave the service a "very good" only because their was a mischarge on the inital bill and the waiter charged me double on accident while he was attempting to amend. He acknolwedged the mistake before we left and the extra charge came off a day or two later but it was worth noting.
One tip - get reservations! This place is and will continue to be a busy joint.
