“Hog Heaven!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

My date and I arrived at "The Pig" unannounced on a busy Friday evening. The dinner crowd was in full swing and it was looking like we were out of luck for a table. We valeted the car (complimentary) and proceeded anyway. We got to the door and were seated, to our surprise, almost immediately. We had to sit at the bar near the kitchen because all the tables were taken. We were beginning to think we had made a bad choice. But we got to our seats and ordered each ordered a drink. The cocktails are all handmade with a variety of unique ingredients. (If you like a good whiskey try the umatilla smash.) We then began to see the variety and SIZE of the disshes being passed through the kitchen window. We were mesmerized by the view we were afforded. We saw the kitchen bustling with sous chefs and line cooks working in unison all under the attentive eye of the head chef who was carefully garnishing and checking over each dish as it was presented to the servers for final delivery. We were able to "scout" certain dishes we thought we would like as they came out fresh so we would ask our server "what was that" and he'd give us the dish overview. We decided on sharing the pork porterhouse. An enourmous cut of pork that was smoked and brined then seared to perfection. We threw in some of their truffle fries and a veggie side and what a meal! The entire experience was perfect. I would defnitely reccomend this place to anyone looking for a one of a kind experience. I gave the service a "very good" only because their was a mischarge on the inital bill and the waiter charged me double on accident while he was attempting to amend. He acknolwedged the mistake before we left and the extra charge came off a day or two later but it was worth noting.

One tip - get reservations! This place is and will continue to be a busy joint.

“Went for our anniversary, loved the 5 star treatment”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

The food is excellent and top notch ingredients are used. Locally sourced and so flavorful. Can be a bit pricey but since Winter Park, what else can you say.

Vande Rose Pork-Brining the chop must be the trick, it was sooooooo flavorful!
Parsnip Soup for starters (great for a nice fall evening) and to end the great meal a Pumpkin Brulee...I just LOVE Pumpkin! A must try for those who love food, really unique dishes.Got the tip from a "foodie" on the plane on the way to FL, thanks Emily!

“Fun and different!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Had date night with the hubby at the Ravenous Pig last night. We chose to sit at the bar because we were in the mood for a more light & lively dinner (didn't want the quiet, white-tablecloth meal). This was our first visit. Nice bartender - we both tried drinks from the specialty menu. I had heard great things about the house 'Old Fashioned,' which uses bacon-infused bourbon. The initial presentation is great, with a crispy slice of bacon on top. The smoky bacon smell was wonderful! However, I noted that once I became accustomed to the smell the drink was really no different from a nice Maker's Mark old fashioned. The hubby had a 'Deauville' and was VERY happy with it. We liked the menu, which is a bit eclectic. We split the Farmer salad, which the bartender offered to have the kitchen split for us (then charged us $2.00 on the bill for a split charge). We both LOVED the salad. The shrimp & grits were just OK and the butternut squash ravioli were good, but I probably wouldn't order them again. Do not leave here without ordering the gruyere biscuits. They were awesome.

“Top chef in Winter Park.”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Fun to try the odd combinations of food and unique presentations, but nothing was so delicious that I have to go back on a regular basis. The truffle oil items are pretty good.
