Business breakfast, and promptly seated. Coffee good, service attentive. Egg white omelette with veggies very nice, with vegetables cooked through, but not soggy. Side was one perfectly spiced pumpkin pancake. I like them with a spice, unlike the IHOP or chains, this had the extra pop. Don't hesitate to get a stack, if you're interested...just right. Fellow diner had corned beef hash and eggs and it was generous. Try it. Smile. And support your local.

Went in to try even though their reviews were a bit indifferent. The place was very busy with only one booth available for us to sit at.Ordered the Special Country Ham, 2 Eggs, Hash Browns, English Muffin $7.99 which was excellent the Country Ham took up the whole of a plate and was tasted fresh, eggs and hash browns cooked to my liking. Really enjoyed the whole breakfast. Partner had Breakfast Sandwich which was simply ok which is why I did not give them 5 Stars. Our server was attentive and friendly enough. Absolutely nothing to complain about we will be returning.

We had breakfast here on a weekend morning. Arriving to a nearly empty restaurant, we were seated immediately. We selected biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs on the side, and corned beef has with eggs over medium.

The corned beef hash is described as home made. Well, I feel sorry for the home this mess came out of. Frozen hash browns that were unevenly cooked, with tiny burnt bits of something described as corned beef (think the size of peppercorns) constituted their version of home made. It was truly inedible.

The gravy was nearly devoid of sausage, but there were tiny bits of something in the pasty white gravy that tasted of uncooked flour (remember the kindergarten jars of paste???).

We really, really want to like this little place. We prefer to support local, privately owned businesses whenever we can, but this isn't one that we'll be sharing our money with again.

Should they hire a true short order cook, or perhaps even a culinary school graduate who can prepare meals from fresh ingredients, this place may have a chance. Until then, keep on driving along Marsh Rd. to Clermont. Bob Evans is a better choice. Heck, Golden Corral on 50 is a better choice!

This was my second visit to the Avalon Diner and I really wanted to like this place. After all, it's a neighborhood establishment, small, quaint . . . well, that 's about where it all ends. We all ordered our favorite breakfast selections; breakfast platter with eggs, baccon and home fries, corned beef hash and poached eggs and sausage gravy over biscuits. Our food was served hot, but relatively tasteless, even the sausage gravy was bland and seemed to be void of any sausage. I was particularly disapppointed with my corned beef hash which was nothing more than hash browns served with some tiny pieces of hard corned beef thrown in; 95% potatoe, 5% corned beef. I wouldn't suggest that you go out of your way to eat here.
