.This is a typical Florida State Park campground. Some of the sites have shade and more privacy than others. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. This is the best campground to stay in if you are interested in paddling the Little Manatee River. The outfitter is located about 3 miles from the entrance of the park or you can launch yourselves under the Highway 301 bridge and arrange your own shuttle. As an alternative, you can launch inside the park and go upstream or downstream. They have a 6+ mile hiking trail that is located on the north side of the property, across the river and is a short drive from the park entrance. Check with the rangers for access through a locked gate to park closer to the trailhead. I understand that this is a good park for equestrians, but we did not use those facilities.
You will see the usual wildlife in the campground area: squirrels, birds, rabbits, maybe a snake and gopher tortoises.
