We visited Half Moon Bay for a swim during a round-the-island trip in a rental car. It looks truly beautiful from a distance, as you survey it from a nearby hill. Close to, you can see some debris on the sand, but this is only to be expected on a beach that is not manicured by some nearby hotel. We had the entire bay to ourselves for a while before a local couple arrived and trudged to the far end for a secluded day to themselves. The swimming was great, calm water and soft sand below with no need for swimming shoes.
