“Above average, but Below Good”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

THE GOOD: Nicely appointed rooms, beds are very comfortable, balcony is a plus, bathrooms are clean with nice amenities. The place is landscaped well
THE BAD: When you take a closer look, corners of the carpet have built up dust/dirt, our lamp shade was ripped, alarm clock not plugged in, and has a kitchen, with a stove top, but no plates, pans, silverware, etc. Food in the restaurants is very expensive. Noting to eat within walking distance.
THE UGLY: Killed several moths, a couple ants, and couldn't catch the gnats... and no, we did not open the balcony door. The elevators are like a steam bath due to no A/C, and the exterior walkways were slippery because when they watered the plants, they also watered the tile! Actually, it seemed quite dangerous.
Was here for business, would not go for pleasure.

Room Tip: Rooms near pool are noisy.

Hello...thank you for taking thie time to share your recent experience with us. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed our comfortable and well appointed guest room and the beautifully landscaped property. However, we are sorry that we missed the mark from a cleanliness standpoint. We will be sure to have our Houksekeeping staff make an extra effort to conduct a thorough cleaning moving forward. We will also check on the air conditioning issue in the elevator - thanks for pointing this out.

We appreciate your valuable feedback so we can improve our performance and hope that these issues will not prevent you from returning.

My family stayed here May 2 thur 4th because our home was being tented for termites. The resort was excellent, rooms were clean, staff was friendly and pool was great! Our room was cleaned after the 1st night which we didn't expect since we were only staying 2 nights! The single server coffee in the room was great and also unexpected! I would recommend this resort for any type of stay and we have planned another Staycation with them from July 3rd thru 6th. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Our room was excellent and we only had the double deluxe, I sure the suites would be even better.

Green Features: The nature walk was nice when going from the room to the main pool. Our 10 year old daughter loved in and seeing the different birds along the lake.

Unfortunately this property is no longer what it use to be when Hyatt owned it. The rooms are large, and well laid out however very musty. The smell and poor Air Ventilation actually made me feel ill, so i got up at 3am and checked out. The king bed sagged so much, we felt like we were sleeping in a taco. The grounds were very run down, the balconies and outside exterior is in desperate need of some TLC, the bar in the lobby restaurant isnt stocked and closed and the poor fish in the aqarium? The pool area was okay, my daughter had a quick swim, and i had a very expensive rum drink. The location is okay, close to restaurants at Sawgrass. The new owners need to sink alot of money to get this property up to its former glory! I can see Hyatt sold it before they had too. Unfortunately we booked thru priceline and thought we were getting a 4 star, luckily it was only for a nights stay before our flight home. I have had much nicer stays at Budget hotels on the side of the motorway. The resort fee for this property is a joke! $17 for nothing!

Hello...thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent visit with us. Your stay was far from perfect and we sincerely apologize for what was clearly not our best effort. We are sorry that you did not like our beds- we undertand the importance of a good night's sleep and we feel terrible for any anquish you experienced as a result.

We do recognize that our property and room product needs updating and we are currently working with ownership on a capital improvement program. We do hope you will give us another chance and stay with us again in the future so that you may see first-hand, the positive changes will have taken place.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.

I dont understand the negative reviews because we had a terrific stay on both occasions when we visited the area. We had a smooth, friendly check in. The room was clean, bed comfy, shower hot. Love the pool, awesome indoor and outdoor bar service. Yes, it is in the middle of a residential area but the hotel can't change that. The proximity to the Everglades and if you want to day trip to the Keys is convenient. We took a side trip to Miami and were back by early afternoon to enjoy the pool. The Nature Path around the property offered some great sites of local plants and birds.
I toured the spa ( years ago I came regularly with my mother) and it looked amazing and clean but I didnt use it.
Yes, some areas of the property look to need refreshing but nothing I saw looked even remotely shabby.
The only comments I have are minor- larger side tables at the pool for food, and the shower heads are positioned so you have to be under the spray when it is turned on. But those are personal preferences and no big deal.
We really enjoyed our stay this year and last year too.

We had a great one night stay at the Bonaventure. I would recommend this property only if you stay for a few days. It is a large property with great distance between parking and actual rooms. Lots of traveling needed but really, its resort so you kind of have to expect that. As far as the rooms well they are great. Large size unit and well taken care of. Very comfortable beds! I recommend it but like I said, plan on staying a few days rather than one!

This visit was somewhat disappointing… The last visit was in 2008 for my sister’s wedding so I was excited when we came back for a sisters weekend last year. I am only writing this to hopefully help the hotel because I feel the pool area is still amazing. The rooms need a MAJOR remodel or at least new carpet. When we walked in the door the odor was so bad… We cld the Management and they tried to help with spray but it was really bad Made me question if the sheets were clean and almost stayed at another place. I am hoping the hotel does make some new changes because I would be back if they do. Also, I feel if you are a guest you should get a discount at the restaurant to make it more appealing to stay there for dinner and not go out. One more thing.. the Jacuzzi was really dirty! On a positive note… the staff was super friendly and they were trying to make a bad situation better but hard to do when things are so old….I feel if the hotel makes some new changes in the rooms… you will see more rooms booked

Room Tip: Right now.. No room is good bc the carpet is sooooo old and musky!!!

The hotel lacks in maintenance and it is very visible. Twice the towels were damp and had a musket smell which fits to the musky smell in the hotel rooms. I ate several times in the bar area and the steak house. The steak house was okay except for the patatos were undercook. The bar food is terrible. Salty and cold fish soup. It took 50 minutes to get our food and half was forgotten. The front desk staff was friendly though. Room service for food is practically non existent. The pool is nice but again a little run down. I would give it 2.5 stars at the most. I would recommend staying somewhere else

Thank you for your honest feedback on your recent stay with us, which was far from perfect. Please accept our sincere apologies for what was clearly not our best effort. Bad food on top of slow service is inexcusable. The musty smell in your room is being looked into immediately so that we can find the culprit and correct it as soon as possible. We are glad, however, that our front desk was friendly and helpful.

We all apologize and do hope you will reconsider staying with us again in the future. Please make your arrangements through our Executive Office should you choose to.
