“Possibly the worst I've ever endured”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Got a great deal on priceline, that's about the only positive thing I can say about this property. The absolute deal breaker was a full blown indian wedding complete with raucous parade at 10:00 am Saturday morning. I'm pretty sure half of Bangladesh showed up. They also charge for parking? Odd, considering this place is practically in the Everglades. The breakfast is woefully overpriced and the front desk staff were genuinely unapologetic. My biggest regret is that I booked two nights in this disaster.

This hotel charged over $80 to my credit card--it's on my statement--but the charge occurred before I arrived. REVIEW ALL CHARGES WITH THEM IF YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE. They claimed they could not find the charge at all after over an hour and five calls with different people who were overall, pretty rude and didn't care. In the end, the manager told me to dispute the pre-arrival charge with my credit card company and that he could do nothing to reverse the charge.

AGAIN: REVIEW ALL CHARGES WITH THEM IF YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE. THEY STEAL FROM PEOPLE AND DENY IT.

We stayed here for a conference. I read so many bad reviews, I was dreading it. But we had a great experience. Yes the place is old and the buildings don't look great from the outside. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was also a good size with separate tub and shower. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurants were good-service as well as food. Ray and Luis at the bar by the pool were just awesome! They learn everyone's names, make sure everyone is having fun, and they know how to mix a drink. The pools, koi pond, waterfall, and nature walk were all so nice. It's a great atomosphere. Give it a chance if you have a reason to be in this area.

The suite was very clean, updated facilities. The buffet breakfast was OVERpriced and NOT good. The pool was dirty. Was weird to be in a full kitchen without utensils, pots pans, plates, bowls, etc…???

Room Tip: was quiet every where.

What a great experience at the Bonaventure Resort and Spa! The grounds at this resort are beautiful and well cared. Palm trees and shrubs surround the hotel areas, with lakes and streams in front and back of the hotel rooms. It looks like you are in an Oasis. The pool and surrounding areas have waterfalls and lights at night that make it appear magical. The rooms and all areas of the resort are clean. The rooms have been modernly update with new tv, bedding, carpet and furniture. The rooms are spacious! We even had a small kitchen to prepare breakfast or lunch in our room! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a room looking at the lake!

We stayed here the last week of October as a timeshare exchange. The one bedroom was very spacious, clean, and more than adequate for a couple. We had a top floor unit with a balcony. Our building was away from the main resort and was very quiet. Any requests were promptly met and staff was more than accommodating. We did not use the amenities of the resort due to traveling throughout south Florida each day. Apparently, some buildings at the resort are more updated than others (TVs still not updated but not a problem for us). We stayed in the Flamingo II and had no complaints. The sound insulation is perhaps not the best but there was no-one around us so not an issue. You do have to drive about a mile to the main resort and larger pool areas, but there is a pool at these 'off site' units.

Room Tip: Choose a top floor room if possible with a balcony. Flamingo I and II are away from the main resort...

Green Features: They seem to work hard to conserve water and have stations etc. for separate garbage such as plastics; paper.

Wow, lots of bad reviews here....give this place a chance.
My first impression was great, easy check in with friendly lady.
My room was in bldg#5, perfect location for me, one bldg over from the pool and lobby/restaurant etc.
The room was very nicely decorated. Full kitchen with medium size fridge and electric stove top. Unfortunately there were no supplies in the kitchen, I don't understand this...how am I supposed to use the kitchen? We made coffee both days, this was nice.
The beds were very comfortable, the ac worked great. We had a balcony that faced a garden with a walkway. I didn't like that I could hear my neighbors through the wall.
The bathroom was a good size but had hard toilet paper (only one roll we had to call housekeeping for a 2nd one) and not so soft towels. The toiletries smelled like musk, very manly, so if you are female, bring your own products.
One day we found ants (sugar ants) crawling by our door in the kitchen area, a maintenance guy came and helped us with that...kind of annoying though bc I like to walk around barefoot.
The grounds of the hotel are pretty. Pool area is nice. We didn't eat at the steakhouse bc it was very expensive. We did eat breakfast at the buffet, it was great, so many choices, favorites were the chocolate croissants and oatmeal with tons of items to mix in. Delicious coffee.

Overall we would stay here again if we got a very good deal. (We were here for a wedding so we had no choice).
