My husband and I recently stayed at the Best Western Palm Lakes back in the beginning of August and really was surprised at how nice the hotel was. Open arrival, we nearly passed the hotel, due to the sign not being raised high enough, so that it stands out when you drive off the main highway.
Once we walked inside the hotel lobby, it looked really nice, with modern, chic decor and fall like colors such as plums, tans and earth tone colors. The eating area for breakfast is also located in the lobby, with the restrooms on the corner right and there was also a tea and coffee station for guest wanting a hot beverage. My husband and I chuckled as you can smell the chlorine from the pool area in the lobby. Nonetheless the pool area looked good and we had to walk outside and pass the pool area to get to our room. I was happy that our room was facing the pool area.
There is no elevator in this hotel as it's a two story hotel. As we finally walked along the room doors and came upon our room number, we were a bit hesitant as we thought this looked like a motel. But alas! As we opened the door, much to our surprised, the room was very spacious and we entered a sitting/living room area and a kitchen/dining area to eat. The kitchen area also had a sink to wash dishes, a refrigerator, a microwave, drawers to store away food and a spacious counter top. There was also a table with four chairs in the kitchen area to sit and eat. We were very pleased.
Next, we open another door leading to the bedroom and was impressed at the size of the room and the closet space. The bathroom was somewhat small but that didn't really bother us. We loved the fact that the living room and bedroom had a door to separate the two. So you can literally close your bedroom door, and a person waiting in the living room area cannot see you.
I must say, we got a great deal on such a spacious room. It looked like a one bedroom apartment that you could totally live in. We had the King suite and really loved the room. The decor had a mix of oranges, browns and tans and the whole color scheme of the room throughout, came together nicely.
Another added bonus to this hotel is the location. It's literally next door to a Target and you're basically on a strip with the mall right across the street. There's also restaurants you can choose from like "Red Robins" a Steakhouse and this Asian cuisine "Pei Wei" diner, which was really good. This is great for those who does not want to drive and prefer to do leisurely walks along the strip. This is also for those that want to grab a quick bite to eat. Do wear lots of suntan lotion as the sun can be brutal at times. My husband and I stumbled on this awesome restaurant called "First Watch" as the breakfast that was offered at the hotel was not good at all. There were slim pickings at the hotel and I think breakfast ended at 9:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. First Watch is a healthy breakfast/brunch restaurant that was really good! They food there was unbelievable and healthy!
In a nutshell, if you're visiting the West Palm area in Florida, I highly recommend this hotel. The price was right and you're in walking distances to shopping and various eateries.
